Sydney the modern footballer is expected to do it all, like Kirk, Carr, Roger James, McLeod. We have too many types that can't do it, including Stevens and aKouta, and definitely Campo. You wanting to blame the young taggers is not right - yes they should be better players but the problem is across our midfield, not just Wiggins, Bannister, Sporn etc.

All clubs have designated taggers and that is all they do - The ones we have are no good. Kouta Campo and Stevens are not taggers . If clubs did not have these taggers why would the AFL be worried about this

Kouta Campo and stevens get enough of the ball to hurt the opposition the only problem is they are doing it accross half back because the others are not doing there bit. Pagan should have had Bentick - simmo - Blackwell and even russell in this side more often - as leaving them in the resevres is only slowing the improvement. He gave Walker a run with role this year -Walker is of the Kouta -stevens Campo mould - this is where DP gets it wrong - Now Walker is in the twos his confidence has probably taken a belting and the kid will now have to start all over again. Dropping him to the twos this late in the season will serve no purpose other than mess with his head. this idea that players have to be a complete package is a load of bollocks. the game hasn't changed that much they just run more. Some players are forwards ,some are backs some are flashy midfeiders and some are dour midfeilders . Vary rarely do you get the Brisbane situation of Aka - Black - Lappin and even then Aka and lappins defensive work are questionable.

I dont reckon Pagan is that wrong in keeping a few players in the reserves. He knows what he is doing when it comes to bringing youngsters in. Simmo and Bentick shouldnt be running around in the 2s, i agree with you there but I reckon russel and blackers and even walks should learn they trade in a winning bullants envirioment

Walker is in the 2s to play some games and qualify for the finals what better than having all our youngsters play together in the finals even if its only the vfl.

Pagan knows what he is doing

While on the topic of salaries, and just highjacking this thread for a moment, can someone enlighten me to what we signed up Stevo for? From what I understand it was a four year backended contract. Now a number of us give Kouta, Campo and Whitnall a hard time for their massive backended contracts, but what about Stevo? And aren't we now trying to free up our TPP so that we can do the same thing to someone else? When are we going to get out of this cycle? :?

GWS and Synbad will know. Actually thinking about it more it may have been a four year frontloaded contract so that he would slip through to 2nd pick in the PSD.

4 year deal I thought at just under 500k a season. Perhaps a little bit to much but when we got him for nothing and offering that sort of money meant that we got him and Port were unable to do a deal with Melb (who had agreed terms).
