He has been solid in the reserves but unspectacular. Having said that he is very well liked around the club by the staff and players. He is a fairly introverted kid of 18 years who comes from a small town 5 hours west of Melbourne toward Bordertown. His attituded and track work is said to be very good.
Going from training once a week and playing with Ballarat U18's to moving to Melbourne training 5 days a week and playing against bigger bodies has been a big learning curve.
The lad has some very good foot skills, is fairly mobile and a solid tap ruckman. He is certainly well worth sticking with at this early stage. There are few, if any, better real ruck prospects in the draft. With French, Deluca, Aisake and Bryant I can't see the point in bringing in another young prospect infront of Batson.
Even a tall, early pick from 2004, in Meeson are playing in the SA Reserves. Maric is in the Port Adelaide seniors and Wood is playing in the QLD comp. All are learning the ropes.

I hope you're right and we don't go into the draft looking for a ruckman. IMO Ruckman can be late developers hence plucking another 18 year old for this position would be some what a wasted pick. Then again if the club doesn't rate our young tall timber then into the draft we go.
