Just say there was a coach of a club, we'll call this coach Rice Bubbles, and imagine this coach hired an explayer now ex assistant coach ( of a side we'll call them The Mongrels) with the same initials as Telstra Dome and imagine then they coached along until the end of the season when assistant coach is having a few drinks at the function and behind him he hears Rice Bubbles talking to a major sponsor of their team, we'll call them the Spooners. Now Ricey is going on and on about the day he played at CHB and absolutely creamed his assistant coach who once upon a time played CHF for a side (say the Jets).

Now assistant coach turns to Rice Bubbles and says,

'don't know what you'rte going on about there Rice Bubbles, you never played on me let alone beat me. As far as I can recall you were a reserves player.'

Driving home that night assistant coach thinks, 'hmmm bet I get called in to see Ricey tomorrow'.

Sure enough he did and was promptly sacked for undermining Rice Bubble's authority.

This would make a great story wouldn't it?

Or do you think it is too far fetched to ever happen in real life? I mean surely Head Coaches would have their ego's in check wouldn't they?

In my story Assistant Coach gets another job, say umm, with the bluebbaggers this time.

was the function held on a "dark and stormy night?". Gee If such a story was in a library where would it be filed under the Dewey system...

Could a similar scenario have happened with a coach called Martin Maltedmilkshake at a club called the birdbrains?

shhhh! This is a work of fiction.

oh and Deano I have no idea but apparently there are many many good stories to be heard about this Rice Bubbles characher - a bit sort of Neroish, as they say in the dictator's anon. meetings.

I'll never forget TD's immortal reply to a reporter when he was playing for Essendon*.

TD was asked how he continued to play so well with a crippling ankle injury....his reply?

"Just a twinge mate; just a twinge."
