Let's not under estimate the value of that future round 1 pick. In 12 months time it will mean more than anything else.

I get the impression these people leading Carlton's recruiting are dills if we base it on newspaper reports being accurate.

All these B grade players being floated around as options from the Swans.

Ollie Florent! oh...wow! oh wee!
below average kicks, marks, possessions, tackles, clearances

Will Hayward...below average forward, low kicks, marks, goals etc..

Seems like Swans are taking out their B grade list and putting in an A grade forward.
Membership might not be necessary for next year if they are that clueless.

I suggest you don't base it on newspaper reports. Robbie is feeding the media his version of events and how HE wants it to pan out.
Hayward and Florent are managed by Robbie...... funny that.
All I will say is that just wait till Sydney formally submit their deal coz maybe those names might be part of it or maybe there is another name in the deal.
Let's wait and see.

I'm pretty pumped for the Charlie deal on the proviso that TDK compo and Sydney 1st this year is used to get Humphrey and a later pick for Dean and Ison.
If we land:
Reidy
Chesser
Florent
Ainsworth (23 goals this season)
Hayward (29 goals this season)
Khamis (13 goals this season)
Humphrey (25 goals this season)

And then add:
Smith
Newman
A fit Walsh
Dean in the back half of the season.
Plus another preseason and development of some of the kids like Lord, Carroll, Moir, Campos etc. (even Motlop).

We might have a chance to be back in the hunt in 2026.

Then we could go for Butters next year with a massive offer, 2027 could well be our year.

I reckon Sydney are working with GC to somehow prise Humphrey out to send south.

They’d better be. Miles off getting a deal without him.

They’re not adding Curnow to end up picking inside the top 10 for half his contract length.

Reckon we’ll do very well from the Charlie Curnow trade 2 capable footballers mature bodies and experienced, and several vital FI round selections . I’m certain we’ll be smiling and ready to embrace a more constructive and successful 2026.

The more I think about it, the more I want McInerney to be part of this deal.

Hand him over now, or you blow this deal AND we’re coming for him next year as a free agent.

Lets try not to look at this deal in isolation. We already have the TDK and Jack compo. It's what we can achieve with the total sum of picks and players that is crucial. What's achieved out of the Charlie deal wont in all likelihood, be the final landing spot.

I get what you're saying, but at the same time, he's the most valuable asset we're likely to trade in decades. So we need to make sure we take full advantage of it.

I hope this new administration isn't as weak at the trade table as those prior, especially given that Charlie has a 4 year contract. There's no reason we can't trade him next year, when we know exactly what we need for Walker, or Butters, etc.
