Keogh I think we will know more come years end.
But having him play in our VFL team, learning our systems and getting exposure to the bigger bodies is definitely putting him in the right position to be the best player.
The issue I have is we get penalised for doing it at the draft table as he will be ready to go round 1 next year.
I'm worried about him learning our systems.

What system? I suppose, get in a contest and kick long is a 70’s system. Play on.
Precisely.

I agree with this, but so far they were 2 mid first rounders in each draft and if we get 2 bonafide A graders and a 3rd this year I won't care.
But we have been screwed by the changes.
Massively.

Funny, it was only 6 months a go that most Carlton supporters were praising Austin for such a Fantastic Draft Campaign and how well he handled the Charlie & TDK Exit.

There was only me & few others who knew what was coming.

I Said that Reidy is no good. If he was, he would be playing Seniors at Freo. I got shut down quickly by Supporters posting highlights of Reidy in the WAFL and the Screamers he was taking...

I said Hayward & Ainsworth are average players who will struggle at Carlton. I got shut down quickly by stating how Hayward kicked 30 Goals last year and how Ainsworth was turning it on at the Gold Coast!

As for Florent, no one knew that last year, he was already iced and left out of the Senior Side because Sydney knew he was past it!

And what about the Jagga Saga? We gave up two first rounders to get a Guy who can't even kick for Goal from 20m out. He has no penetration in his legs and he is just a carbon copy of Cripps/Hewett/Cerra.... Aren't we already too Slow in the middle?

Mind you, I am sure Jagga is a Gun for future years to come, but at Carlton, Voss is already destroyed him! he is better off changing Clubs!

Josh Treacy would be a good get. Like the way he goes about it and can kick a goal.
Pity we have no one like him.

So, which pair of mid first rounders would you have played different?

Trading up for Jagga, or matching the bid for Dean?

Or, do you not want to match the bid for Walker?

Did you know where Tracy came from? He wasn't even a top draft pick nor a late one!

He came from the Rookie List. This is how smart recruiting works. He was overlooked by all AFL Clubs despite the player he has become today!

We could have had him for Free if only we had scouts in all parts of the Country!

Why are you having a go at me? Did you have a bad night? All I did was point out that Owies was part of the trade to get Jagga too.

I literally have Jagga as my avatar. Of course I am happy that they did the trade to get him. As for Harry Dean and Cody, yes we have to get them in. Father and sons bleed blue (even if they play for opposition clubs apparently).

Do I support Austin as recruiting manager? No I don't. We have a terrible list.

If you declare everything as shit you're bound to get some right. Can you show any posts where you've made a positive prediction that came true?

I'll give you that Reidy isn't much good. We had to recruit a ruck, but maybe Flynn Riley or someone from state leagues would have sufficed. Reidy didn't cost much, but still looks a waste.

Ainsworth and Florent have been among our best players - you're welcome to disagree but TC MVP and Supercoach both agree - the eye test and the stat test. Hayward has been underwhelming so far but playing a different role. All 3 filled a gap in our age/ experience profile, as I've mentioned several times.

Bringing in these blokes for a half-arsed Curnow is not the problem, and I think it's still a good trade even if Sydney tops the ladder the next two years to put minimum value on the first round picks. Losing TDK and JSOS (at least while he's fit) have been more detrimental given our midfield and defensive capitulations.

But the biggest cause of our downfall by far is the shocking form of our key pillars: Weitering, Cripps and McKay. Our board-obsesssed friend keogh likes to talk about the fish rotting from the head, well it's certainly true in the microcosm of the football field.
