The Big Positive of the this weekend is that

Footy is back and i confess really missed it :)

Positives from Round One NAB
Also though we didnt get passed round one of the NAB neither did the 7 other teams so we can now try and take a positive out of this and work on getting structure right for round one .. Hopefully experiment with the Kids and people we are not 100% sure about.

There where encouraging things to take from the loss such as Murphy who from the first semi proper hit out showed he has class and poise and is not only a in and under player but can play outside something we havnt had for a while and he looks the goods and will only develope more as the year progresses.

Hartlett did okay down back and needs to continue to be given encouragement as the backline is something that really needs to be structurally addressed. People say we need a PlayerX lets go out and get one but maybe we need to look into our own stocks ie Hartlett / Bower / Edwards even Kennedy see if one can be developed in that group.
So next 3 weeks play these guys in defence maybe also mix in Banister who played well in the Ants and also did well late last year.. We have to see if others can be used in the Defensive position.

Experiment over the next 3 weeks with the Midfield Rest Stevo / Kouta we know these guys can play lets base the next 3 weeks on using just Simmo / Murphy / Betts / Bentick / carrots / Blackers / Russell / Walker

Also let Fev rest and work with Fisher / Santanta / Waite / Logmuir / Deluca

use the next 3 weeks to see what our New kids and also borderline players ae capable and hopefully a couple will stand up

Anyway i watched a few matches and must say big positive was footy was back

cheers

There's few sports I really look forward to returning... Cricket (in Australia), Premier League, and the AFL.

Thank goodness it's back.

Commonwealth Games? Who cares. Footy's back.

Yep even enjoyed watchin some of the other matches .. the Saint vs Pies was a good contest and even on friday nite enjoyed the Brissie vs Bomber clash but of course most of all enjoyed seein the Blues back even though we lost

And cant wait to see How Josh performs when given his chance, how Murphy developes, See if Santanta can grab his chance in the forward line so lots to look forward to ...

One good point i found from Santanta was his abiliy to make a contest so even if he dosnt mark it even if he can bring the ball to ground we have to have someone to crumb him.

Negatives: Football is a sterile, over-umpired shadow of its former self.

some positives i could see.

we won a lot of hard ball, we had plenty of inside 50's
thought the forward line worked reasonably well, but it was the delivery that was the problem. the supergoal rule stopped a lot of players looking for a target. Walker was did this 3 times in a row at one stage.

how many times did we simply roost the ball to the goal square with out looking for a lead?

another positive is a key forward will never kick 9 straight on us again.

that was one of kingsleys three bags for ethe year. his only go two left now.

Murphy is good, nice to see his desire fro the ball.

harlo didn't do much worng which is what you want from a key defender

thought we missed teague.

we had more scoring short that the cats (i think).
we were competive all game and the guys put in i though. the cats are simply a class above and should be there abouts this season.

we played better than richmond or hawthorn i thought

Fantastic to see the footy again.

Looking forward to seeing the young players develop this year.

Already pleased with what I saw from Hartlett and Murphy.

Simmo looks like he may back up again.

Expecting 40+ goals from Fisher.

Nervous about how much upside Waite will show this year.

Hoping like hell we can find a full back to take the pressure off the rest of the backline.

yeah i was thinking he will probably save a bag of 6 or so for us.

we could have easily won that game, if with better execution.

the last time we play and under strength side when we had a full list was a 99 point loss, so i'm happy being in front at the 12 minute mark of the final quarter.

to loose wasn't THAT dissapointing know it's only the NAB. i would have loved a win dont get me wrong, but it means we should be able to fly under the radar a little and have less pressure to play the kouta and stevo's of our list.

guys like blackers and russell should get plenty of game time over the next three weeks now.

thats a positive.

looking ahead to round one already and will be watching the demons with interest

When the final siren goes, on the last game of the year, it seems like footy will be gone forever.
