Good point about Hammil Synners. I wondered where Hammil would have learned to do that, who would have taught him and who paid his wages whilst he was learning (...runs for cover!!)

Leadership isnt about grabbing someone after they have decked one of your teammates.

It is about setting the example of being a team player on and off the field and putting in the extra effort to help the youngsters learn about the game

That doesnt mean that leaders have to be the older players either.I think our leaders are deficient in the area of setting the example. If I were on the match committee I would have chosen a different group to the one chosen.

Simmo is an example.. its a trait we have had for a few years.. and its important to address now that we have a young team.

Hamill for all his greed does this very well at StKilda....

He will never stand by and watch a kid or any member of his footyside get mauled.

Agreed.

Voss and Ricciuto are other classic examples. Neither are thugs, but you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of them or their teammates.

Waite is probably our best hope at this stage.

With any luck Kennedy and Bower will develop some mongrel. Sentanta won't be backward in coming forward either I imagine, let's hope he ends up in our best 22 for a few years yet.
