Adelaide's training regime is a very interesting one - they focus more on football drills than fitness during the pre-season........given Craig has a fitness background it does highlight what he thinks is the #1 priority.

They do this because their policy is that fitness is the responsibility of each individual player. The club expects each player to maintain a certain level of fitness away from the club. Adelaide's leadership group is big on this and takes any youngster aside who is not up to scratch and has a talk with him. The training time not used for fitness leaves the assistant coaches free to work on skills, and Neil Craig free to work on tactics. It is a very good system that I think we should adopt. The only caveat being that it requires strong leadership from the senior players.

I find that interesting I suggested that in the training thread the other day I was told to pull my head in that players couldn't be responsible for their own fitness and our blokes were training 5 days a week sometimes twice a day.

It was a very good interview with Craig - he even admitted he had an ageing list and him being a assistant to Ayres was partly responsible for that .

I like a coach who admits to his mistakes

Denis and the Carlton football club heirarchy general are a gaggle of people gunning for now and self preservation and not for the future.

The quicker they abandon their hope to not be considered ' losers' the faster this club will get onto its feet.

Why was Kouta playing?Surely he illustrated he didnt want to be out there and was forced to be... or is he that shit thesedays???
Fisher has knee soreness.. (rest him)
Stevens had abit of an injury leading up to the last couple of weeks.. (rest him)

Fev underdone.. (ressies)
Wheres Livo????Surely T Bird is spent at FB... and needs a rest from that spot after 4 years of scragging and pushing... he is jaded!!!Lance cant play back there....PLAY LIVO!!!

You wanted a ruckman???You have McLaren!!!... but surely we could have drafted a ruckman a couple of years ago in Wood.. !!!.. then we wouldnt be in this eternal quest to find a ruckman.. (Mott Bryan McLaren .........)

Flooding???What a shithosue way for the kids to learn and enjoy their craft... as a matter of fact if youre flooding as much as us and getting thumped by 100 points whats the point of flooding at all and stopping kids from enjoying and learning the game...???

Look, it goes on and on...

NExt thing we know were going to say... we tried the kids and lost 20 games last year.. lets trade off our first pick and stabilise the ship.... stabilising the ship is all were interested in these days!!!....

Ill slash their tyres if they do something like that!!!!

This is a long term exercise were in.... no band aid solutions no short term remedies.. its like being a parent... your babies will cry all night.. you wont get much sleep.. you have shit on bums to wash.. nappies to change.. until they know what theyre doing...!!!

AW does not have to be a tagger / defensive player each week.. sometimes he can play footy in the forward line and lead out and just mark and run...!!!

Livo can play FB sometimes to give T Bird a break.. god knows he needs it!!!

Josh Kennedy does not haver to be rushed back from his shoulder reco ahead of time... we want him to be a 10 year player not to line up in round 5 in the firsts!!!

I want to see improvement.. i want to see building blocks put in place!!!... not interested in wins.. stop pretending were going to wallpaper over our current defficiencies!!!

Flooding???

BLAH!!!!

flower hell, its a crazy world we live it, but i actually agree with the pirate for once.

what i saw on the weekend, was the worse display i have seen our club make, the worse display.

when you have a player in his 2nd game (mark murphy) look the most accomplished, there is seriously something wrong, team morale is at an all time low, and that is what got to me on the weekend.

i can handle losing, i can handle poor disposal, hell i can handle alot of things, but their where 3 incidients in that game that really left me dissappointed.

1. Paul Bowyer went in hard for the bowl and copped it. Did exactly what was expected of him. Why was i dissappointed - not one player went over to him and gee'd him up, not a single bit of praise, here is a player in his first game of football just gettting smashed and he didnt flinch a sceric. and no priase at all.

2. Walker (i think it was) - was in a tussle at one stage - and stevens had to run 100m to get involved when there where players alot closer to it all. very dissappointing.

3. Marc Murphy - im not dissappointed with him, but there is something terribly wrong with the fact that a 17 year old boy, in his second game for the club and second game of AFL, looks you most comfortable player out there.

Now - alot of that, in my opinion is down to team morale, and i hear all these wonderful stories of what it is like at training, but in the games i have seen it has been non existant.

something has to be done about this, and IMO it rests solely at the feet of Pagan and no one else.

If players cant feel enthusiastic this time of the year to kick a footy around and support their mates .. or they have no game plan... when do you think it will come???

Not only are we practising so our skills are improving for the real season but are we practising for enthusiasm too???

I think some people didint go.. and if you didnt go.. you have no idea!!!

It was insipid..!!!
It was clueless!!!

It was flat!!!

and if it was too warm for us wasnt it too warm for Port??

There will be more 100 point beatings this year.. many more!!!
