OK, some clarification...

That post this morning was a reaction to the amount of bloody negative pricks who frequent the board. I love Carlton, always will, but when you've got a bunch of negative blokes saying "Oh god, Woe is us, What are we to do, we're going to be shit for ages..." it's bloody depressing. And that's what I was saying.

I'm not going to F@%&#! stop supporting Carlton. That's just F@%&#! weak and stupid. Speaking of which... anyway, the crux of my post was that I'm not going to worry about the football side of TC for a while - except for Talking AFL. I probably won't bother finding out what the score is this weekend because I don't F@%&#! care. IT'S A PRACTICE MATCH, FOR SMEG’S SAKE! AGAINST THE 2005 GRAND FINALISTS! We're going to lose, I know it, and quite frankly, I don't care. April 2 cannot come quick enough for me. Back to the real stuff. Back to looking forward.

I can't support Carlton when everyone around is bagging the absolute shit out of it. Like KK said, the optimists amongst us are outnumbered 10 to 1 by people who can't see a light at the end of the tunnel. You want me to be positive? How's this - I'm POSITIVE that I'm a Carlton supporter, I'm POSITIVE that we WILL get better, I'm POSITIVE that we will see multiple players stepping up to become superstars. I'm POSITIVE Denis (WITH ONE N) knows what he's doing and I'm POSITIVE that we're on the way up.

It's a beautiful day out there halford (well it is here in Melbourne anyway). Grab the footy and any spare kids you can find and go and slot a fewover the crossbar screaming "Jesaulenko!", "Kernahan!", "Dominator!", "Bruce what are you doing up this end of the ground?" or whatever else takes your fancy.

Offer to buy the kid who kicks the freakiest goal a CFC cap with Marc Murphy badges for all the runners up (ie all the other kids).

When you're completely spent retire to the local for a couple of quiet ones.

A sure fire recipe for restoring your faith in football and by following this prescription to the letter you'll have done more for the future of your club than sitting in a dark room fretting in a circle with a bunch of other sad sacks.

Go forth and enjoy!

(It's better than going sixteenth :-D )

Eagles have Cousins, Judd, Embley, Kerr and Cox out. Anything's possible but even if we do win, what will it mean? About as much as winning the Wiz last year. Let's wait till the real stuff starts before we write the year off.

Problem is though, Jars, that the optimists - myself included - try and keep everything upbeat.

Have some fun on the main board. Find positives in defeats. Look to the future, when things will be far more successful.

But when every thread - even one that's simply about how to spell our coach's name - get hijacked into a morass of name-calling, negativity, finger-pointing, and all-round shit-headedness, what hope do we have?

It's farting against thunder.

The negative nellies are winning, because the sound of their whinging will always be louder than the quiet voice of optimism.

That would make a good signature.

As soon as I'd written that, and was viewing the post, I thought the same....

You're welcome to it if you want it.

Captured the moment perfectly Halford, and I concur with GWS's cure for the Blue blues.

Things to be optimistic about include:

We're not Collingwood supporters
We're not St Kilda supporters
We're not Essendopn supporters...

...and there are another twelve reasons alone along those lines before I start to broaden the range!

So we've had a couple of tough years, and we're getting a few headlines for the wrong reasons, but so what? The only reason we're getting the headlines is due to our magnificent history, and the doomsayers are terrified about our inevitable resurrection.

While I might have my occasional moments of getting down about our current plight, I bear in mind the Carlton FC has been going for 140+ years, so a couple of bad ones won't hurt us.

It's worth remembering that when the VFL was formed in 1896, we were down and out in a similar manner to today. By the time the first season began in 1897, we were a basket case and finished second-last for the first FIVE seasons (with thanks to St Kilda for propping the ladder up). So why did the original VFL teams want us? Because we were a great club.

So now we have a few emerging youngsters who look to have the goods, including Josh Kennedy, who I believe could be the next Jonathan Brown. Marc Murphy, Andrew Walker, Adam Bentick and a host of others are going to make our club successful on the field again.

Remember, the next group of players and committee members are not going to make our club great again, nor are the next generation of members and barrackers.

Our club was great, will be great in the future and IS STILL GREAT TODAY.

If you look at last seasons results we got thumped on about 7 occasions so 10 losses were not disasters.Does that make you feel better.

I want want the assholes at work to stop giving me shit. The day after the news reports, first thing people did was come and hand me 10 cents and say "poor carlton, lets start a collection". I told them all to get stuffed. This coming from St Kilda, Hawthorn and Collingwood supporters, makes it even harder.

Don't worry I am as blue as ever, with my desk full of Carlton stuff, this is why I get so much cheek all the time.

I have so many fights with people over all this.

I'm a Carlton optimist....always have been....greater love hath no man and all of that....everythings cyclical.....it's our turn in the bottom of the barrel; we'll come out of it....it's just a matter of time and of having patience.

For Gods sake; even St.Kilda has got a good side running around after 50 years in the abyss....they haven't got a flag out of this side yet, but heaven help Thomas if they don't dob one this year.

Sorry John Elliott; but we're rebuilding; and it takes amongst other things; time and patience.

The days of the quickfix are gone....Marc Murphy WANTING to come to Carlton is a sign to me that Carlton is still a Club that is respected.

As Ron Barassi once said "I don't necessarily want to be popular; I'd rather be respected; given the choice."

C'mon Blues!

Great work Rob, as you all know I'm a bit slow on the uptake.
