now i know carlton won, i know the backline performed, i know fev kicked 5, i know scotland had 32 disposals, i know murphy was sublime, i know waite presented well, i know livo was excellent, i know french was brilliant, i know we played 2/4 of a game with 3 man bench, i know eddie was brilliant, i know simmo was awesome, i know carrazz killed johnstone,

BUT........

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves hey guys?

Lets not forget the 2005 wizard cup where-I know carlton won, i know the backline performed well, i know lance looked amazing, i know fev was awesome.....and the rest.

It is game 1 of season 2006. Now i am not saying lets walk away and keep everything in check and not show emotion, hell i walked the circuit of telstra dome last night with one finger in the air, but our bubble can very easily burst.

i hope like hell it doesnt, i hope next week by monday afternoon there are 8 pages of positive posting, i hope like hell we are saying WE ARE STILL IN THE EIGHT! and i hop like hell we play consistent footy.

BUT

Carlton Football Club circa 2006 is a young team, the youngest in the AFL in fact. so lets not forget these kids have a right to inconsistency, a right to finding their feet and may not be able to maintain instensity like what was seen at the dome.

I am so proud of the effort i saw last night, a hardness at the ball and determination that hasnt been seen in years, a backline that stood up- Livingston, Thornton and Whitnall gave me flashbacks of Silvagni, Sexton and Dean. I saw fire in the eys of the players, an eargerness to show the football world, that while we may be down, we are certainly not out.

Some say beware the sleeping giant. But to borrow an old cliche, im just taking this season once week at a time. i just want my boys to go out there and play with the fire, the intensity, the heartm and the vigour, that saw us prevail last night, if that happens, if we hit the park like that every time we hit the park this year, we are always a chance.

So i guess what im trying to say is, im proud of my boys, and i feel vindicated as a carlton supporter, but lets try and keep a lid on things, lets not expect the world from these young superstars....

YET.

I agree. Sunday night was bloody sensational. But there is still a part of me that does not want to get over excited in case I am brought back down to earth again.

However, I will still be very proud of the boys if they put in the effort and lose. This is another cliche, but as long as the whole team is trying, and not hanging their heads low when things aren't going their way, I will be proud of my footy club. :)

GO THE MIGHTY BLUES!

I think most supporters wont.... No one should even contemplate us being a chance for the finals.....

And 8 wins should still be a satisfactory return.... Our kids won't be that good every week but there will be a good glimpse of excitement and we will surprise a lot of teams and the media this year... :)

Hey if Dwayne Russell can anoint Richard Tambling a superstar, goddammit we can call Marc Murphy "Diesel".

Keeping the thread count low would be good too - so many similar conversations.

Can we get a locked thread admin can update with news paper articles rather than constantly getting new threads on them. That would cut down a few.

Jimmae, FYI this is something that the mods have definitely been talking about, we're just coming up with the best way to do it.

We're very sensitive of Warby's post count too, I mean what will happen if we start posting the articles before he does

I'll bring it up again.

Keeping my head?

@#$%&! that.

I'm extracting it from my arse and putting it in the clouds this week. It'll go straight back up my arse once we lose on (not until october sometime, hopefully).

PHP frontpage with a comments link to an automatically created post could be a good start - pity I don't know php and have no coding skills whatsoever. :P

Collingwood v Adelaide is looking tight at this stage.

We're a growing chance to finish 5th!

Not any more. Crows won by 34 points and pushed us down to 6th. But at least we're in the 8 & have a percentage of 129.
