whitnall walker & thornton. Fev tried hard, stevens was good till half time. Our midfield is terrible.

As others have said Big Red, T-Bird, and 1AW.

Also a crowd of almost 60,000 for a home game means $$$$

Lance

Walker

Murphy v Thomas - our kid does the hard stuff, Thomas floats around looking for cheap kicks.

I thought D-Mac wasn't too bad.

Kouta's one-handed mark in the 2nd quarter took me back to the good olden days.

Thornton on Tarrant.

Fisher played his best game for the year and will run into some good form soon.

Dont want to put the whole positive spin on the loss today, it was unacceptable and the season is very frustrating already. But I'm not going to point fingers, just want to note on some positives and look ahead:

Andrew Walker - really starting to prove himself as a great defensive player and versatile - having played on Croad and now Buckley, Thomas

Kade Simpson - the kid tries his guts out, disposal is pretty good and marking is great for his size

Lance Whitnall - great job at CHB, but think he needs to play up forward (though thats another debate)

Brendan Fevola - worked hard, never gave up even though had ridiculously limited opportunities

Ryan Houlihan - dont know why Carlton supporters find it necessary to always give it to this guy, has improved immensely over summer, especially endurance - another solid game in the midfield

Bret Thornton - had a great game on Tarrant and actually came off his man to help another Carlton defender out which was a nice surprise

Also looking ahead to next week, does Ian Prendergast get a run? 15 marks, 7 goals - the guy is fit, versatile and always gives a contest

I also watched Fisher quite closely today. He does a lot of hard running to all parts of the ground. He is mostly not rewarded for his effort but it doesn't stop him presenting. Well done Fish, if only others had your attitude.

I thought fish was pretty good too slow mo after a poor game last week.

Thought Mclaren had a pretty good first half, although he did miss a sitter.

Fev's snap on the half time siren was great.

Thornton was good which is good to see.

Rocca didn't destroy us as I'd thought he would, thanks to a disciplined effort from Lance.

Some credit to Carrazzo - absolute model of consistency. Every week he is given a job on the oppositions in-form midfielder. Today it was Ben johnson who has been BOG for Collingwood in last 2 weeks. Johnson had nil impact with only 5 possessions up to 3 quarter time. Carrots was moved off him in last quater and Johnson then had 8 kicks in last quarter with Scotland his minder!

Carrots is averaging 19 possessions week in week out as a tagger and has not been beaten this year. Had 20 possies today. Also, hardly ever gives away frees.

Well done Andrew.

While I'm a big fan of Carazzo, his usual precise delivery by foot was well off today. His decision making to try and pinpoint a kick over 15 metres to a contest was particularly frustrating, especially when it didnt pay off. Also, the look away handpass in the defensive goalsquare probably not the best option.

However, as you say, he does a job and is usually one of our better deliverers of the footy. Experience will help him make better decisions with the footy.

Agreed BH, credit to him, also provided an option leaking into the centre bounce from the edge of the square.

The big move was Fraser to the ruck.

Alongside that they clamped down on those that were effectual in the first half, got on a run and our confidence snapped.

Finally got around to seeing the game.

I thought Lance and Thornton were great. McLaren, Walker and Fev were good.

He didn't do much, but even at AFL level, Kennedy looks to be a very big boy and moves pretty well.

we got mauled at the center clearances after half time, and it's always hard to tell, espeically when all that is available is ch 9 highlights (there first qtr highlights went for about 60 seconds!) but i thought down back the guys did a reasonable job, when you consider the ease it was coming in at.

Fev, fisher and kennedy all presented well and fev didn't drop his head once which was fantastic to see.

the positives i could see from the highlights was eddie betts's tenacity at the ball to set up the first goal to Fev.

the attack on the ball in the first half. Fev's great snap after a solid team effort to force it forward just on half time.

whitnall's goal in the last term (that was a pearler lance).

murphy's desperate somother

thorton's judgement

wiggo coming in and doing pretty well.

walker also playing well, with just his disposal a little off today.
awesome snap from about 40 out after collecting the crumbs from a ruck contest. reminded me of kouta that did (ala round 19 2004 v bombers)

i just have a gut feeling that the guys will start to click a little and we will play well against the bombers.
