Budzy is right ... McGrath would have had no problem reaching Fev on that shot. Perhaps this was another situation where that "creativity" has been drilled out of the players, and he was looking for a loose target instead of an obvious mis-match.
Now with the 2 chase downs , I think a factor was that in both cases the runner thought the chaser had been shepherded. The problem was that in both cases, the shepherders did not finish the job, in that they threw the arms out but did not actually put the extra effort in and run the extra few metres to make sure the shepherd was effective. From memory, it was Josh shepherding for Stevens, can't remember who did it for Eddie.
The guys should have been given clear instructions to get Fev in the one on ones, but this did not appear oto happen. In fact the forwards kept crowding each other most of the game. Fisher was injured when he backed into Fev instead of leading his man away, although perhaps he did not realise Fev was so close.
