Pagan's post-match press conference...

Pagan said he was disappointed to lose by 64 points but drew plenty of positives from the contest.

Mick's post-match...

Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse says his team carried passengers in the win against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night and believes there is still plenty of room for improvement.

In other words, the coach sitting at the top of the ladder recognised the positives but focussed on the negatives - how his team can improve.

The coach on the bottom of the ladder is pleased with the performances of some of his players...

How is this going to help?

Shouldn't Denis be saying, "We can't kick drop punts, let alone hit targets. Perhaps that's what we'll focus on at training."

There's this arrogance about Carlton, we're always trying to justify our postition, we're constantly blaming what happened in late 2002. Let's be accountable, deal with what we've got and focus on how we can improve, not focus on how mediocre we are!

I thought you wanted us to focus on how mediocre we are.

I thought there were no positives.

Now I'm just confused.

"I don't think our guys gave it up, they fought it out but I guess at the end of the day it was more about class, more about usage"

That is coach speak for "We can't kick drop punts, let alone hit targets"

Some posters have a common sense and logical approach about getting stuck into the coach and some people can be plain stupid about it.

Pagan should be saying " my team proved it has the abilty to play footy, to hit targets, to run the lines, to kick goals, and we proved that in the second quarter, the reason we lost is because I changed the game plan at half-time. I put Lance back, put murphy on the bench, told the players to flood, and put no targets in the forward 50 to kick to. Its not my players fault, I finally take responsibilty for the way our team is playing. This week at training we will be focusing on the players confidence. Showing them the videos of the times that Carlton was dominant, that the players were playing well, and telling the players that they are good enough to win! Then in next weeks game we are going to play with confidence, we are not going to play negative football. We are going to play Fev, Lance, Kouta, and Lappin up forward, and we are going to have a crack at winning the game, because we are definatly good enough to win! We are Carlton and we are the greatest team ever!!!"
