That's a lovely piece by Wallsy.

Best wishes to him and his family.

RIP

Is it possible to send a card or flowers or similar on behalf of Carltons online community?

Support this 100%.

I'm in for a few bucks if a fund is started for that...

Or is it Wallsy's choice that a donation be made to a particular cancer research foundation instead of large flower gifts to the family?

I'd back a modest bunch of flowers, and a card, and a donation, depending on funds available.

The Walls family has requested that in lieu of flowers - donations be made to 'Lungevity'...they have a website for sufferers of lung cancer - www.lungevity.com.au ...Brochures will be at the funeral on Thursday for those to donate.

FOOTNOTE: Lung cancer kills more people than breast, ovarian and prostate cancer. If you have a persistent cough, as Erin had, insist that your GP pursue all avenues. If you would like to help the Australian Lung Foundation, donations can be sent to PO Box 847, Lutwyche, Qld, 4030.

In light of this information from Dr.SHERRIN and the footnote at the bottom of Walls' tribute I'm not sure if it's worth pursuing a TalkingCarlton contribution, or if people should just donate what they feel comfortable on an individual basis should they choose to do so.

I'm sure you all know this - but for a group such as Lungevity every cent helps - they really do good work - the donation process is made easy with PayPal. Seeing as the Walls Family had put Lungevity brochures in the Church for the funeral and also requested donations in lieu of flowers; it would have been nice for the Blues to put something on the banner on Saturday - nevertheless - advertising place takes precedence and the fact the the Bulldogs, Lions, Tigers and Blues wore armbands was a fitting reminder that in the scheme of things - footy is just a small part of life - it's the people who are important.
