I think that one of the major problems we have as a club in attracting new members and getting existing one's to re-sign is that we don't have a salesman up front. Whether that be a player, the coach, or an official, doesn't matter but the whole club needs to fall in line behind them.

Someone out there telling the supporters about the new kids coming through, how close Raso Bower Hartlett etc are to playing and what they need to work on, how we're looking forward to using the draft to fill a couple of holes in the side, how our forwards are getting held off the ball by ghosts when we attack because the umpires can't see them, how we will probably need a side for the Dome and another for the MCG. What functions the club are running and how we would like our old players down at the club helping the youngsters.

Give the Dons and Pies and now Tigers their due they have got good salesmen who sell the club, where it is, where it is going, and throw up the smokescreens when needed. Giving away free caps and scarves is handy and player visits to schools and clubs, use of the internet, engaging the supporters and media appearances would all help. Presently the only person at the club who has a media profile is Fev.

The club needs to give Simpson Fisher Kennedy Murphy Walker Waite and Russell media lessons and push the theme of our youth at every opportunity and get these kids out there.

Silver member ship isn't too expensive, really. You get admission to all our home games, and that's pretty much what you pay for. You also get some lovely trinkets...

I get a Silver membership each year despite not being able to get to games. It's basically a donation to the club because I get bugger all for it. I don't even get my member's cap because you have to pick that up on matchday or from the club.

Compared to the offerings from other clubs Carlton seems to be lagging behind.
