Great post Mark.
On field I'be been encouraged by the likes of Waite, Walker, and Tbird of course. But supposed lesser lights such as Carazzo, Betts, French, and now Bryan have given this bluebagger a lot of heart.
I like also that Setanta is making solid progress, and while it would be wrong to pin our hopes on him, he's still looking like being a valuable left field solution. Kudos to the club for that. I'm also happy about Russell continuing to develop in the twos and hope he'll slip in under the radar a bit when making his senior debut.
Off field I'm really happy with membership numbers, for a variety of reasons I think our figiures this year are outstanding. Next year though I expect to improve again, so here's hoping the followers out there remain supporters.
Very pleasing to read about our continued off field health, sponsorships and profits were just two words that only a year or two ago were foreign to this proud club. Well done Collo, Malouf et al ... keep going strong.
While the Farewell Game at Princes Park saw a loss for the side and was a symbolic end to something many consider great about our game, I was very happy to have been able to make the game and was moved by the way the club handled this day with the integrity, honour and distinction it deserved. How great was it seeing those 16 cups paraded around the ground, and the final send off with Big Nick was as fitting a goodbye as anyone could have hoped for.
GO BLUES!!!
