Dont like the idea myself, but if we must,it's Sydney or the bush for me.If you are gunna get a bit of recognition elsewhere then go to the biggest and the best. After all,any aspiring entertainer heads for New York and actors go to Hollywood................Its either Sydney or forget about the whole deal.Besides,we have the flair and pizzaz that the Swans will never have.Great way to recapture our former glamour image.

So we moved to Telstra Dome because of money and that's not working out well enough. So let's keep on going. Let's move some home games interstate to see if it generates more money. Why not move the games over to Los Angeles or London? Now there's some untapped markets if ever I have seen them. If you move home games interstate then you cannabilise your fan base in your home state. Get it!!! :?

So seeing your team play 17 weeks a year in Melbourne's not enough?

Get your hand off it!

If we have an interstate home match, then we get less interstate away matches.

So either way, Melbourne supporters will still get to see Carlton play 17 or 18 times a year in Melbourne.

And that would also mean us Sydney MEMBERS who hand over our money every year, will actually get to use our home match entry on a match where we don't have to spend hundreds just to get to the match.

Either way, you guys would still see your team play as many matches in Melbourne as ever.......

Where does anything say this? It would be an added interstate game. They don't take this into account. Kangaroos play 8 interstate, with 3 at Manuka. If you can get past your selfishness (which is an understandable selfishness) of wanting to see Carlton in your own state, I think you'd recognise there isn't that much logic in it. Why is it more of a big deal than playing an away game in Sydney? And we can request that if we really wanted it!

Think about the fixture lately: WE HAVEN'T HAD A SYDNEY MATCH SINCE 2003! If we're lucky, we MIGHT get a WC or pre-season practice match here....yay...how exciting.

So don't talk to me about "my" selfishness at wanting to see my own team, given you get to see them 17 times out of 22 in your city.

I pay my membership every year, I think I'm entitled to have a say over how many matches I actually get to go use my membership on.

How many Interstate AWAY matches do the Bulldogs play this year? Or the Hawks, or the Saints? The Kangaroos are a different case, so to use them as the example isn't valid.

As I SAID, we can request an away game there quite easily, which is a hell of a lot less painless than switching a home game there for the same effect. I don't see why you have more of a say over 33,000-odd other members.

Yes, we can request one. But the AFL, in all it's wisdom continually plays us in Perth and Adelaide......twice each this year (the same last, I think). Like the AFL gives any of our requests any priority.

If we requested one we'd get one, it's not like it would put them out. Fact is we want to tap into the Perth, Adelaide and Darwin markets, real football towns

You know this for a dead-set fact? It's more in our favour to tap into 2 small cities, rather than into a city with more than 4.5 million people, a good deal of which are Carlton supporters?
How were the crowds v WCE and Freo? What sort of percentage were ours?
I bet there are more Carlton people in Sydney than Adelaide and Perth combined.
Don't forget there are a lot of "expat" Melbournites up here (me included), who are feeling more and more alienated by the lack of access to our own club.

Only reading in-between the lines, but the fact we've put up no opposition at any point to not having games in Sydney would suggest there is no major concern. We have huge support in WA for example, was reading somewhere that there are more members from there than NSW.

More members, maybe, but not more supporters. You get guaranteed matches here for several years running, and I will guarantee you that the rate of Sydney based supporters will rise. The Perth members at least get to see their team twice a year, I would say that's a large part of why they're members.
