I think the kid might be gone at seasons end, unfortunately, but he really needs to be given a go before the seasons out.

Who knows, he might be able to redeem himself in the last few weeks, ala Livo at the end of last year, and resurrect his career. Here's hoping because I am a Karl fan and think he has a lot to offer Carlton - talented, athletic and great dimensions for an AFL footballer

Could be used/trialled as a half forward this week, if as some have already suggested Waite went with Pavlich.
Some of these guys playing for their future need to be tried in other positions. Not simply classed as a backman, didn't work your gone.
Most of these players would have been forwards or on ballers in their junior footy years. Not all will adapt quickly to becoming a backman.
Let's experiment a little. We have nothing to lose.
Regards Pedro.

Why go backwards.
Forward thinking would be to place someone of the LTI list and upgrade a rookie who might still be here next year or is Hartlett fit n Ready?

Anything but backward steps...

Norman should be in the bloody team - it is a disgrace that he is not in there - i hope he has done something bad to deserve the blacklisting by pagan, because otherwise we have wasted a year of development for this elite talent.

He is the only genuinely quick and tall defender we have.

What about that back injury that allows him to play VFL but can't carry it in AFL?
He seems to play better on short opponents and running out of defence. I'd give him the job on either Medhurst or Farmer or play him forward.

yeah, he should be in the firsts for a run

so we can get something for him at the end of the year when we piss him off.

On a similar topic, we should try and get some goals out of Whitnall, and Campo some property in Adelaide

Dignity. Self-respect.

He's treated this club with Angwin style arrogance. Giving him a game on the "we might as well" basis sends a shithouse message through the list.

Only Karls attitude can get him a senior game.

Not looking good for him. We've been short in defence all year (playing Red and Kouta out of desperation) and yet he still can't crack it for a game. Sadly, it appears the writing's on the wall for Karl.

Karl doesnt play tall anyway.
He will most likely get a last chance to save his skin ....

True he doesn't play tall per se but he's our only defender with genuine height (194.7 cm  ). You would've thought we'd be developing him, giving him game time and experience, as a Tall Defender????? Certainly makes a lot more sense than playing Kouta at CHB (and if anyone knows my posting history I've been strongly against playing Kouta in defence all along due to his knee and resulting lack of mobility/agility)

I'd hate see to see Karl leave and play well at another club without giving him one last crack at it over the next 7 weeks.

BB, just saw your signature "Id rather win the spoon than be a long term basket case"...

.. someone called 3aws Robert Walls and asked him if he thought winning two wooden spoons over the next two years would be good for the club..
Walls said "Id be happy with that, its a five year proposition for the Blues starting now and they need all the talent they can get"
Karl is a talent and hopefully he vcan wake up to himself but the good thing about the early picks is that you can choose character and leadership as well as talent.

Anony'mouse' questions why id choose Drum over Dowler or Clark ...
Well the biggest reason is he stamps himself on a game unlike the other two...Comparing Drum to Vance or Massie like he did is silly.. and just shows he doesnt watch the games but looks at the record at height and weight and not form.
Drum kills Dowler in the games he plays on him... Drum you wouldnt draft as a KPP hoping he would grow .. you would draft him on his football nouse, leadership and ability as a footballer.
Were not trying to fix all of our problems in the one draft. Were trying to improve our list on talent not height without talent.
Also Clarks coach is telling recruiters he has a lax attitude to the game with his preparation..
So if anony'Mouse' has actually seen Clark do anything with his own eyes he can maybe tell us????

I dont believe theres any room for players with Karls attitude on a modern day footy list.
I wouldnt want to draft a player who can play but doesnt have what it takes to be a bone fide footballer.
The early picks gives us an opportunity to not be desperate to draft more Normans...
In todays game character and willingness are as important commodities for a footballer as talent.

Totally agree with both you and Wallsy, Synbad. We'll need to bottom out for another season sadly... especially with the bumper crop that will be available in next year's draft...that, at least, would make up for 2 years of draft penalties.

Hope you're right about Karl getting another chance. Had really high hopes for him at the start of the season but he's turned out to be our Biggest Disappointment. Unfortunately with our current list the way it is it looks like he'll be retained by default. Time to pull the finger out Karl!

Don't forget he's still young, turned 21 this year I think? And as I've read hundreds of times taller players generally take longer to develop.
I don't think we should get fooled by his height. Sure he may be our tallest defender but plays better on smaller opponents. Remember the game last year on Matera...
If Karl can take the Materas, Milnes, Farmers, Daveys type players then Carrots can spend more time in the midfield.
