Lucky? He's a second year player learning his trade. He's unlucky not to have played more games given his performances in the seconds, Darknavy. The boy will face a lot of pressure over the next few years, with Blackwell potentially fighting it out for his spot, but for now he's finally been given some game time...

lets not forget that he was last in the team when beaten by Jude Bolton at the Swans, who killed everyone that game.

The lucky one has been Brett Johnson, not AB. And that's all set to change.

2nd year player who turned 20 last month.
Out of 12 games in the reserves this year he has been named in the best 8 times.
A question mark on his pace but he did not look slow on the weekend. Good in the clinches and fed the ball out to Scotland and Stevens and tackled like a demon.
Completely shut Coughlan down when he was on him.

18 possessions, 9 tackles and 10 contested poss from little over half a game says he earnt his position and played his heart out.

Thanks for the backup Mikey M.

And in one of those games where he wasn't listed, I had him BOG!

No doubt Bentick is a beauty, have liked him since I first saw him play last year. Has been developing this year, doing the hard yards in the VFL but looks a likely type as an in & under midfielder. Add Jesse Smith to the midfield rotation next year as a support act to the runners in Stevens, Campo, Walker, Blackwell, Russell, Waite and Simpson. Carrazzo, Bentick, Kouta, Smith, Scotland and hopefully Marc Murphy and Jimmy Bartel can all get their own ball and feed if off. Blackwell can get his own pill too but needs a pre-season or two more and then he's away! Playing well by all reports for the Bullants too!

Bentick had to wait until Pagan tried Bowyer, Bannister, Clarke and Johnson to see if they had anything left to offer and the result is no - they will be delisted/traded at seasons end and hopefully Bentick will stay, is improving and hasnt been given a proper extended go as of yet!

Bentick is good.Has a go and gets the hard ball .his kicking needs to improve and because he lacks pace must be an in and under player.Better option than Johnno.

At the moment he is lucky to be on the list but did play nicely yesterday.

On that basis, Bruce Doull would have been gone at the end of 1970.

Bruce Doull was luck enough to play in an era where there were about 90 players on a clubs list - Firsts seconds thirds and fourths. He had the luxury of time to develop into the champion that he became. Unfortunately in this day and age clubs are looking for immediate results. I hope Bentick is the next Ratten but lets get real here - he played a good game on a woefully undermanned opposition who gave him no respect because all their taggers were trying to shut down our better known players.
Good on you AB for taking your chances - in 108 years less than 25 blokes have played more than 250 games for the blues - so it is also an insult to Ratten to make the comparison at this stage.

are you insulted for Ratten? Or did he give you a call? Come on he was just trying to praise the kid for a good game and hope kind of got caught in his eye like a splinter oif light. it had been a long time between drinks DN.
