Did they ask for this condition when Collingwood, the Dogs, Roos and Demons needed financial assistance?

I'd rather have 10 gallery owners on the board than someone from the AFL!

Quote:
The AFL has said it would attach strict criteria to the assistance and is mindful at least one Carlton benefactor is preparing to commit significant cash in the next 12 months.

Which benefactor :?:

Damien Barret is a Carlton supporter.
Having the AFL on our board is actually less detrimental than the blokes we have on it currently.

I wonder what the point of Smorgon and co being on the board is when i can do exactly the same job .

(Ask AFL for money... and if that doesnt work... beg!!!)

This guy stuck the knife in Collo so he can do that????....

Best ever president!!!

An AFL Commissioner I'd take - "Come on down Mike Fitzpatrick!"

This stems from the bullshit Caro was spewing before the game on Sunday. To show how much she makes up (and gets away with) she actually stated that the Carlton heirarchy was telling Dick Pratt to hold off on a sizeable donation to the club; waiting for the AFL money to come through! She then said...and I quote - "How can Carlton get special assistance when they'll just accept the AFL money; then receive money from the Pratt Foundation"

Hmmm....that would make Mr. and Mrs. Pratt look really good wouldn't it! The Pratt Foundation could not (even if it wanted to ) give money to an AFL club. I can't believe she is paid to make up this crap.

Let's just hope we've still got some good legal advisors & business nous to get us through this embarrassing period we're currently stuck in.

Not a glowing endorsment of the board of Directors is it?.....the AFL appear to have little confidence in Smorgan or his team to get us out of the mess or look after the money we are receiving...
The article did say though we are expecting to receive money from a benefactor in the next 12 months.....so thats good news...Hopefully the AFL director is only there short term to help guide us through seeing as the president is incapable and once we get the money from our benefactor we can get ourself a new president, some new board members and some new direction.....

As far as I'm concerned this money is only the AFL repaying (with interest) the money they raped off us Black Friday November 2002, if "The Spew" wants one of his lackys on our Board to eat scones and sausage rolls at the monthly board meeting so be it (shit I'll bake them  ) - in anycase its only one vote, whats he going to do, tell us not to pick Bryce Gibbs.

The time has arrived, we need an alternative right now.
If there are any "Carlton" people who are willing to put the club first, then make your move now and form an alternative syndicate, before these guys "hand in the keys".

Think it might be too late now though.

If the $1.5 is a loan, then the AFL should be thrilled if a Carlton benefactor is going to help us out since it will reduce the AFL's risk on their loan if our other debt is reduced or wiped out. However since that Carlton benefactor rumour has been doing the rounds since 2002 with nothing to show for it, I still find it difficult to believe.

Damian Barrett is defintely a Roos supporter.

Not sure why a loan constitutes an AFL representative sitting on the board.

Having said that, does that mean, that we, the members, get to vote who that person will be?

"Paging Mike Fitzpatrick, Mr Fitzpatrick there is a call for you from an old friend".

That's because it just isn't true. The only money we're ever likely to see from Dick Pratt these days will be in his will.

It was interesting to read on the weekend how the Blues had issues with the timing of the signing up of Toyota to an extension to their contract before our home game against the Doggies given that we are aligned with Subaru.

Given the conditions that have been attached to this 'loan' can't imagine Smorgan saying squat, except thru the media.

Such bravehearts we have on the board at CFC!

I'd rather shake tins on Flinders Street than let those filthy flowers get a vote on our board.

This condition, if it is a condition, must surely be knocked back by the Board. It is unacceptable for a member of the Carlton board to have anything other than Carlton as their utmost and ultimate responsibility. What businesses allow a major creditor on the Board? Those down teh gurglar under a scheme of arrangement, thats who.... an AFL board member's priorities will not be consistent with ours.

It is unacceptable and if the Board allow it they should not be there.

Lets hope it's shonky reporting.

'At least one benefactor.....' how long can this be talked about before people write it off? Surely we have to see it to believe it - we cant wait for this poppy cock to come out and save us.

If you were the President of a club that was going to announce the fact that there were some strings attached to a particular initiative what would you do?

Perhaps it might occur to you to leak a story to the media outlining the most unpalatable possible strings that might be attached to that deal so that when the deal actually goes through without them you look like you've had a win.

Tell em to get F****d. I see first hand on a daily basis what the pricks have done with local footy in Sydney so I have no faith in the ****'s whatsoever.

If we really want to lose our club then just give em the keys.
