Yes second half shocking but there was positives
Livo keeping lynch goaless was meritorious given the amount of supply by west coast- no more mentions of dropping against dogs -clearly the match committee had a brain freeze
Chris Bryan kept trying all day and perhaps we have found our second ruckman to french and look forward to him spending some time in forward line when french is fit - beautiful kicks on a couple of occasions and is competitive in the centre square
Hollywood fevola - kicking 4 with the way ball was coming down - also kept his cool very well when glass was trying to rough him up
Walker /carrazzo continue their education on excellent players judd and to a lesser extent matera
Teague seemed to regain some form 10 marks but still not as good as last year
Scotland best game for about 8 weeks - not great game but more like what we need
thorton tried hard and his disposal was better -lappin tried hardboth front and back
Otherwise very ordinary second half - not great game from our team leaders except for fev and perhaps lappin - need more from them -and not singling anyone in particular out as all of kouta stevens campo whitnall were very average

Fevola kicked another 4 - continues to do all that we ask from a full forward. If he kicks 4-5 goals every week I'm happy.

We played 2 good quarters which has increased from our obligatory 1 good quarter per game.

Jarrad Waite - he is going to be very special.

Another solid performance by Livo & T-Bird.

Chris Bryan kicking the ball 80 meters from full back - hit a target every time. Stevo & Campo should be relieved of this duty when French returns.

If you setup the video to tape the game and the tape ran out at half time, that would be a positive...

Who played on Brent Staker? If it was Thornton then I reckon he got a bath. :?

So many wonderful positives for us, the 16th team, in the first half, but of course it all went pear shaped after that, so I'm just going to pretend I haven't seen the second half!

Chris Bryan! This guy is a freak. His kicking in from FB is sublime, on almost every occassion he kicked in we got the ball from FB to deep inside 50 without trouble. I do think having him play in the ruck and kicking in has some issues, so once French returns I wonder if Bryan could play CHB??? His kicking in is that good I think it worth trying! He wins plenty of ball around the ground too.

Campo, like I said, I'm choosing to forget the second half, in that light Campo played a pretty good, and hard, game. Good stuff, I'm loathe to say it would be great if he played like that every week, because it would be great if all 22 played like they did every week, well in the first half only of course.

And the whole team really, they played with some fantastic intensity, fervour, endeavour, courage and all those positive buzz words that it was hard to believe it was the same team that played against the Dogs a couple of weeks ago. Gee we were good.

And I know he's the opposition, but Chris Judd! Wow! He did some astounding things yesterday, stunning to watch.

I heard somewhere that Campo's contract was up for renewell too

Positives for me were Fev, Carrazzo & Livo for beating their opponents and Walker, Bryan, Scotland, Teague, TBird for trying all day.

Positives were Livo who beat Lynch, Fevola who beat Glass, Bryan was very good before inevitably tiring, Scotland had one of his better ones for a while, Teague was better, Walker was well beaten early but ran the game out well and did some encouraging things in the second half.

Can't agree that Carrazzo beat Matera, Matera did miss a few he would normall have kicked and Carazzo also gave us virtually nothing by way of run out of defence.

Thought Livo won the points over Lynch but dont remember them actually contesting to0 often.
Scotland came on and played how we would expect him to instead of the half hearted stuff he was dishing up before he was dropped..
Fev did ok and looked sharp but had limited opportunities..
Brett Johnson was good early...
Walker plugged away on the brilliant Judd

The infamous Campo started ok but was invisible after half time, ditto to Stevens and Kouta...Lance wasnt too bad early but had a shocker turnover and didnt feature much after that.
..all four should be giving their money to charity this week...

Perhaps on certain weeks he could play back, games aginst Richmond, Port Adelaide who play a resting ruckman. He definitely couldn't against the Bulldogs and and hawthorn who play smaller faster forward lines.

He could however in these weeks play as the loose man, with Barney pushing forward.

Fair point, but in instances such as that we could almost divvy up the ruck work with French taking the midfield and resting in the F50, allowing Bryan to play the sweeping/loose role in defence that Barney was playing before getting injured. His kicking in a role like that could be so well used.

Man I still can't get over what a great kick this bloke is. Forget the length, that is just one of his strengths his accuracy and ability to read the play and to kick to advantage accordingly belies his inexperience.

WOOF!!!

I can't wait to see them both work together. Two big men in our side. Woohoo!!

I think everyone agree's on his kicking and want him kicking out after a behind. Just have to make sure he's going to be down that end of the ground and has someone to kick too.

Afternoon all
I don't post much because there aint much good news to talk about these days!
However i was also super impressed with bryan's kicking out of defence. It seems that he is the only player on our side capable of getting the ball out of the back half. But one thing that particularly bothers me is Brett Thornton's attempts at tackling, how can a key position backman be unable to lay a tackle. I ask how is it possible that backman is incappable of tackling, everytime there is an opportunity for him to tackle it as if he barely tries. For god sake man grab the ******* opponent and put him down on the ground hurt him!!!!!, Now I understand that he creates play out of the back half, but if he decided to go and get the ball himself rather than wait for team mate to pass it to him, it may in fact improve our backline effeciency and show some leadership. :x
thank you come again

Matera may have gotten 3 goals but at least one or two of the goals where in the last when not only was the midfield getting smashed but after having a lengthy one on one with Denis at 3/4 time Carrazzo was off the ground and Bowyer? was playing on him.

Does anyone remember Walker basketball play??? He bounced to himself in between several Eagles spun out of trouble and hit Fev on the chest. It was all class and i am sure a sign of things to come from our Walks

Livo - in a game like that you could excuse him for leaking 4-5 goals to an opponent. Instead, he sticks with it and the guy is dragged.

Teague - really solid first half and working into a role as 'go-to' man on the way out of defence. Problem was we couldn't force a turnover in the second half, notwithstanding 18 of us being in the D50 (!), limiting his ability. But he was a great target for us on the 'way out'. I like using him like this, although he is not fast he is pretty mobile and covers some ground.

Bryan - well now that the Prez has labelled him the new Woof ( ) he seems to be loving it out there.

Fev - good, hard work.

Good bits by Walker and Lappin but each overshadowed (no disrespect to Walker in saying that)

No other positives for mine.Even when we were leading they looked shaky and we looked slow.

Questions from this weeks game:
Why was Johnson taken off when he seemed to be matching Fletcher?
Why can't Stevens get the ball anymore? Is Stenglein that good a tagger?
Why would you sacrifice your main onballer (Kouta) to CHB when you could give Norman a go, Morrell a try... team balance was all wrong to start with.

Johnno - seems to be Johnno hasn't got a big tank - remember that Essendon* game - he's got a good half and not much more - maybe he'd be great on and off the bench?

I prefer Kouta at CHB to on the ball because defensively I do not think we can carry him campo and dstevo in the same midfield. Of the three he can play elsewhere.

Stevens, in my book, is not a centre square midfielder. He is a wingman who runs forward if we get the break.

DB,

Stevo will be great once we find some others to play in the centre square.....interesting to note that Stevens is in the top 10 in the AFL for centre bounce clearences. It would be much better as you said if he was playing on the wing and delivering the ball to Fev.
