At the end of the Age article about Crawford there is a small mention of Setanta being elevated. I suppose everyone new it was going to happen but good to have it confirmed.....

"The Blues have also offered Irishman Setanta O'hAilpin a two-year contract.
The new deal — expected to be signed in the coming weeks — will elevate O'hAilpin from the rookie list.
It was confirmed by Carlton coach Denis Pagan and Gerard Sholly, the man behind the recruitment of O'hAilpin to Carlton."

Good news for a change.

The club desperately needs players with his level of determination and intensity. It helps set the tone for others. If his reading of the play improves some more and he gets some more fluency in his kicking style we've got ourselves a very handy footy player imo. :)

Great news ... I love the way Setanta goes about it.

Looking forward to seeing the big fella in the side next year.

I have spoken to a sauce close to the club who says Setanta is holding out for a 3-year deal......

KIDDING!!!

I have no sauces apart from the type I get out for the backyard barbie. And a bit of hot mustard. Not too hot mind you.....

Oh and by the way

WELL DONE YOU BIG IRISH/FIJIAN SUPERHERO!!!!!

Yeah we are treating him poorly. Only offering him a 2 year deal for 3 months now and he deciding that it has to be 3.

I say up the deal to 4 years.

I also reckon he should only get 2 years but I did think, in the article posted, that he had a bit of case for being treated poorly.

Apaprently at some big function over in Cork, Setanta was overheard slagging off Jim Stynes. It's been said he muttered to himself and others at his table that "Jimmy should just sit down and shut up".

This information has since got back to Carlton and they are starting to wonder whether they should have signed the former Hurling star to a 2 year deal or not.

Interesting times ahead.

Good news, but pity it wasn't all signed sealed and delivered, with photo op all at once rather than having the offer announced, but contract unsigned for a few weeks.

Well if watching Tadgh Kennelly run around in a grand final in front of 90,000 people next week oesn't inspire him to put in the hard yards over the off-season, then nothing will.

I'm with Lance3101. Carlos still is a fair way from a regular spot in our team next year. Work him into AFL via a forward pocket role at best, had no clues in defence and too much of a risk in the ruck.

If he plays 5-10 games next year he has done well.
