Interesting regurgitation of the last 5 years on footy forums...

Big difference between Coach and Players are though Sydney is that there is a cap on payments for one, not the other. To have 1 player earning say 20% of a cap is just so farcical you have to scratch your head and wonder... (plus wonder where all your hair went).

Clubs broke every dollar counts -

Its the over the cap payments that hurt and I dont think he was on 20% of the cap ever his big money came when he was a veteran . I might be wrong

Hard to know exactly how his pay has worked out when you read this report on the formula:

[quote]Kouta the $5 million man
Carlton star midfielder Anthony Koutoufides is set to become the highest-paid footballer in Australia. 27-year-old Koutoufides, nicknamed “Koutaâ€

Imagine he deal we could have got we could have got the swans to part with their 1st round pick for 3-4 years in return for Kouta when he was flying,
The club choose to do none of it .

I did not know that you could trade into future drafts  When did this start happening?

Don't let logic or the rules get in the way of a good theory woof...

So back to my original question - does anyone know where the funds from Kouta's Ball are going?

If one cent is going to Kouta I'll be out the front with a stake and some matches...

Perhaps the Kouta situation is best summed up thus:

While superficial media outlets trotted out headlines about another blow to the struggling Blues with their "inspirational" captain to miss 5-6 weeks, many Carlton people saw the "blow" as an opportunity for a younger player being "developed" in the VFL to hopefully see some real game time and as the first tangible sign of the beginning of the end of Kouta.

When I first heard the TV grab, it was a case of "Geez, what now?" It was actually a relief when the details unfolded. Phew, only Kouta. Imagine if it was Murph, Simmo, T-Bird or Walks. Now that would hurt.

Yes, he was great for a couple of years and will remain one of our highest-profile players of all time _ but he bled us dry. With you Synners: Send him off with respect _ but it's time to move on. Least his retirement will give us another major sponsor!

You'll never get a job at a newspaper now kenny - imagine actually looking around and reporting what you see rather than simply regurgitating the club's media spin.

Who do you think you are anyway...?

Major concern for Carlton is the loss of inspirational captain Anthony Koutoufides, who has finally succumbed to a hand injury and will miss the next five games. That could finally tip him into retirement at the end of the year, which would leave the side without an important on-field leader and figurehead.
