I'm sick of this "rose coloured glasses" or "Head in the sand" crap.

I know we're shit and I know I can do nothing about it.

So i have aabout 3 choices..

1. Change clubs

2. Put up my anti embarrasment defences, whinge and moan, get it into my head that our club has no clue and that we are doomed...stop buying memberships and bag the club to all my mates.

or

3. We are Carlton, we have heaps of rich people if we ever do get that bad. Bloody hell, StKilda and Sydney have done it tougher than us and they are still standing. In 2 years if we are still wooden spooners I'm sure a new board will take over. But right now we are at least heading in the right direction, we have two superstars in Fev and Simmo, we will have some good new talent to watch, maybe we will win 8 or 9 games, Maybe AW will take mark of the century...hopeso, go blues!

All you posters with misplaced importance try option number 3, it's good for your health!!. :-D

I disagree strongly  .

Murphy is already in that league :-D (im taking age and experience into account).

Waite has the potential ((please son realise it FFS)prayer emotion required  )).

Setatana will be a premership gun and a and Angry Superstar  .

Walker only needs to hold that bloody "Mark of the Year" and he will be there to (all he needs is to get it out of his system and get on with things).

And my final superstar (im goona get shot for this one) is Blackers. Give this kid some serious game time and he will astound people. The baby faced assasin  .

He's a beauty, isn't he?

I have high hopes for Blackwell.

Everyone mentions a future midfield consisting of Walker -- Murphy -- Simpson -- Gibbs. Blackwell seems to be discounted a lot.

Hopefully Denis gives him more time on the ground this year.

Thats like having the latest greatest mobile phone but no mobile network to use it in.You can gaze at you new phone and admire it as much as you want, but without a mobile network it is useless.Maybe you can use it to take pictures?
See thats my point exactly.Typical "football" spin , the sort of crap that comes out of Pagans mouth after every 100 point loss.We dont need football "spin" about positives, we need a mobile network and quickly!!!!!!'

synbad, u depressingly negetive sod, please just F**k off for the rest of the off season, i just cant take the way that you spin everything that happens or is said into a downer. youll probably say "yeah, well everything that does happen is negetive"....please, i ask you to just leave everyone here who wants to support this club alone. there are 15 other teams, just pick one of them.

One thing Blackers has shown from day one is composure.

He's never been overwhelmed by it all, ...he can only improve. :-D

There are some very interesting posts here. A few of my thoughts.

a. Being positive does not equal burying your head in the sand or quietly sitting by while the club goes to sh*t. You can question your club in a positive manner. You disagree with with the club in a positive manner. You do this by stating what you think is wrong and suggest ways in which you think it can improve. Simply stating negative results, and not suggesting anything is pathetic.

b. NOTHING has ever been achieved by being negative.
Positivity is the only way things can be created.

c. A good example in my mind is those who go to the footy and shout abuse at their own team. Synbad reminds me of one of these people. Someone who would shout abuse at the team at a game, and tell people he is just telling it like it is.

True you don't blindly follow your team without questioning them, but abuse and negativity creates nothing.

There are people at the club now, working their hardest to improve the club, after it was left in the worst state ever. Let them keep going, OR provide a viable alternative.

Like your thinking SA (and Dannyboy, you've got my vote...and the rest of the shtetels!).

Two things...

Thing 1 - I can't stand supporters who yell abuse at our players. Cringe, ok, but no abuse!

Thing 2 - as SA says, really important to provide BETTER OPTIONS to the things that we are not happy with. "There are no problems here, only challenges that need to be overcome." That kind of concept.

...and no (Danny Frawley style) spitting either.

I always get into Carlton supporters who abuse our players, moreso than the opposition supporters...I have been known to get up and grab an ear and ask them to get out of my space, or the blokes next to me will do it for me...that usually works, because I tell them that I love them deep down but only due to having a common allegiance with me.

Lat year at Telstra Dome, we had to walk out a couple of Carlton supporters who were behind the goals, sitting above the cheersquad, because they were abusing the players, and when they said they were sorry and it wont happen again, they came back in and were quite positive after that.

Support and don't abuse...well not around me anyway...

What does the club owe me.. Nothing

What has she given me - Many, many, many many, more good memories than bad.

what does she ask in return ... Some patience and support

What am I going to give her... ?

Very true, on top of that I loved his behind the back manouvere in the VFL finals when trying to get around a player on the line. Didnt quite come off but I liked the fact it showed some flair and arrogance at VFL level. In saying that I mean it appears he feels he is better than VFL standard and probably thats why he looks so composed.
