Thought Rowe and Jamison did well in their efforts with Hogan.

Blues interim coach John Barker said best-afield Patrick Cripps was “absolutely” this year’s Rising Star as his side ended any tanking suspicions.

“We don’t like (tanking) talk,” Barker said.

Hogan had 8 possessions and kicked 2 points and will probably win the rising star award.

Was a somewhat nice and 'comfortable' feeling to be up by 8 goals at half time.
But I still sat here in front of the telly at half time feeling like we were up by 8 points.

(It makes sense in my head)

And of course Carlton went on and did what Carlton does best when they have a big lead!

I wouldn't have it any other way

What a difference cutting out that cancer called Henderson can make.

I saw that too, impressive. He's a nitro car though, needs straight lines!

I complemented Rowe and Jamison for their work on Hogan and totally forgot Dawes was out there.

What an absolute waste of space that cauliflower is. Isn't he on massive coin as well?

I loved how open our forward line was without Henderson. Kreuzer BOG for mine. Cripps not far behind and now the certain Rising Star... surely. Great to see Walker amongst the goals. The kids will improve.

I thought it was his best game for a while. Which probably shows how far back he's gone.

Gave genuine effort and if he's fit I'm a Zulu.

His shoulder was banged up early and it was obvious he had little mobility with it. Just glad he stuck out tbh.

AGAIN! Somebody on here (I forget who) pointed out to me recently how he ends up in the hands of the trainers almost every single game.

It was me
He either has no confidence in his body or he is a hypochondriac or he is soft as butter on 40 deg day

But Menzel doesn't excite me like some supporters

I can't read too much into the game as it really was poor standard with little defensive pressure especially in the first half. Ball use was poor.

Positives were Kruezer, Cripps & Buckley and seeing players give an effort. Prefer that to a Yarran or Henderson jogging around. Everitt needs a kick in the arse as he really picks and chooses when to go.

I thought it was a great chance for Jaksch, Menzel, Whiley & Dick to step up and show something against a weak opposition and they were mostly disappointing. Dick & Tutt aren't anywhere near AFL standard. Boekhurst looks good but needs to get fit.

On a side note Jeremy Howe was doing his best Henderson impression out there. Looks like he is leaving the Demons based on that effort.

I thought Jaksch did quite well. Whiley and Dick are battlers and their output was about what you would expect.

Whiley????
You have to be kidding!!!
The kid was EVERYWHERE today, at just about all cntests, in and under handballs, making space, tapping to someone in a better position, jumping 3rd man.
This kid will be a gun, yes I said 'gun' in about 3-4 years time.
There is a little bit Fyffe in him.
Ridicule me till your heart's content. Watch him over the next few years (at Carlton)

Have to agree. Because he's in and under its not pretty but he reminds me of when I began to notice Ratts in the early 90s...suddenly he was there, extracting, getting to so many contests

As bad as Watson is he wants to play and appears to try
Hendo was going through the motions just doing his bit.
Far more talented than Watson but lacked endeavor

Me either. Never has. Even before he got injured today late in the 1st qtr he hadn't had one touch. Really struggled to keep up. Finished with 7 for the game.

Glad i went today, great to cheer Juddy for carrying us for years. Good effort by a very, very undermanned side. Not sure what some people were expecting? We are a bottom side with a long injury list, let's enjoy a win in an awful season.

Cripps, big K and Walks, very good. Whiley looks a bit slow but has a great attitude, good hands, is promising. BB didvsome classy things, KJ didn't do much but did a couple if nice things, has talent, perhaps a slow developer.

Everitt has a lot of talent and is surprisingly quick. Tutt tries really hard but his disposal is awful. Bell tackled well but needs to do a lot of work on disposal and decision making. Glad Watto got a game. He tries to wrestle and doesn't really fly for a mark. But he has been putting in for the 2s so hapoy he got to play in a win.

This is one of the least talented sides we have fielded for a long time, so a good win. And the #1 draft pick almost never has the best career. There is often little between several players. Lions are likely to get there player, and us, ours.

Also Shane Rogers gets a bad rap because he was part if Hughes team, but actually as head recruiter he has done well.

What I liked today was the endeavour shown by the players.
All players were committed to the footy and took advantage of an insipid Dees team.
They took the game on but puffed out after an hour. Lost the 3rd badly.
Good to hold on in the arm wrestle in the last.

Murphy was easily the class player on the field; both teams.
Cripps is dragging this team along on his shoulders when Murph went down.
Docherty will be an A grader. Imo.
Simpson was unbeatable today. We will miss him.
Kreuzer lost the ruck but won the contest. Best form I've seen for a long while.
He's jumping! Yippee!

Casboult would've had a field day.
Everitt was good again but he needs to give more intensity.
Happy for Walker to kick his 3-4 goals a game.

Great to see young men committed to each other and the jumper...makes the match a great spectacle.
Did not miss Henderson Yarran waite Garllett...or.... Well I do miss betts and Kennedy....Jacobs too.

Hated seeing Yarran and Betts in the stands...together...laughing...on TV.

We have got a small core group of great players to grow from.
We will be better with Gibbs, a Judd replacement, and a CHB.
Jaksch will replace Hendo. Same type.

Go Blues.

Curious trivia bit: when was the last time an AFL game was coached by two ex-Fitzroy footballers (Roos and Barker)?

Won't happen again.

Have a look at the replay
Every time a team mate gets tackled hard, bumped, or gets roughedup a llittle bit...
Wiley is the first one in there responding.
Often against guys twice his size

That is exactly the type of thing I love to see .

Cripps is a star, but lordy he needs to go to summer school to learn how to kick.
His inaccuracy is so deflating

Also I agree with Bondi

Watching this game made me realise just how much we will miss Simpson when he's gone.

Sometimes I wonder whether the team made a mistake not making him Captain.

That said, Murphy was fantastic, and the turnaround in the second half made it clear how much we were missing him.

I will watch the replay later but I agree. I think he will be one of those hard working mids every side needs.

Interesting that no one in this thread has pointed out that a choice of Weitering v Schache is more important than a meaningless win at the end of a lousy season.

Except me, now.
