Also Fisher had 5 clearances to half time. The most of any Carlton players.
Bingo mate - Cerra, Fisher and Hollands kept us in the game at HT through the middle.
Agree. Hollands really impressed me when he went into the middle.
Question now is how we use Fisher with Walsh & Kennedy back. Fisher does give us some leg speed we do lack in the middle as does Hollands.
We now play a an extra mid with our HFF going up after the bounce. The more we can have running through the midfield the better. Over the last 2 weeks we have also pushed Hewett & Cerra to HB and put Docherty on the ball.
What will be good to see is Cripps Kennedy Hewett Cerra Walsh Docherty Fisher Hollands and soon Durdin & Motlop all in the side and rotating through the middle at times will make us a very hard side to match.
I also believe Carroll can become a very good midfielder and Fogarty is playing well as an insode mid in the 2's.
You can't fit them all in the team together Farmer. We need Rucks, KPF's, KPD's....
I don't think Fisher has cracking leg speed some allude to. I think he has a good side step and can be elusive. Whilst he is elusive he gets caught because he doesn't have that elite speed of a good small player to get away. Hence he rushes kicks. I'm not writing him off, but like I said, we cant fit all the mids you mentioned, and someone has to be depth.
Outside leg speed will come from Cerra and Doc, and Walsh provides more run than Fisher, so I think Fisher is depth.
I dont agree that Fisher's exploits kept us in the game in the first half as Surry suggests. He did better than his first 3 weak games, and I was happy for him. I loved his long pass to Harry in the 3rd. That was excellent, so he's got weapons. Lets remember, he was on the cusp of being dropped last week, so imo, he needs to show some consistency. I'm happy with 28 possessions at 78% but I want that on a weekly basis from a player who can't tackle, and a hard nosed physical presence when its his turn.
Cerra was tough and relentless, laid 7 hard tackles on bigger players

Holland was tough and fearless for the ball, and covered a lot of ground protecting space, and I saw Fisher's half arsed attempted tackles in the first half, dismissed or broken, and NM got clear...and scored. No one mentions that much in post game forums. Fisher had 0 tackles for the game. He's a depth player. I like him for that, but after 6 years in the system, I think he's the finished product. He isn't going to get faster or stronger. What you see is what you get, and that's a good thing to know the role he can play, and the role he can't play. Durdin, Owies and Motlop are similar height but they can tackle. Fingers crossed Fish can improve on some of the metrics.
