He's alright, but he's no Jordan Bannister!

Oops, forgot about him!

But you couldn't really classify Brown as a youngster in terms of footy experience, 3 flags, 100+ games. I should have included him in the list of Brizzie senior guns. Out of those senior Lions players, who will be there and as effective in 3-4 yrs:

Brown (will still be a gun)
Black (will be 30 yrs old, a smart but slow player. Will he be as effective?)
Charman (If his body doesn't completely break down)
Power (doubtful, if homesickness rumours are correct)
Michael (we are all aware of the rumours)

The others - Voss, Lappin, Aker, Leppitsch, Scott brothers, Keating, Notting, Johnson will all be well into their 30's and most likely gone.

A bit of de ja vu circa 2002 and the blues?

Mike - re Jarred Brennan. For argument sake, I only listed those young players getting a guernsey this year. Yeah, he has loads of raw talent, but has only played a handful of games and he's pretty unconventional. A potential superstar but with a pretty sizable risk premium

See Marc, plenty of reasons not to go!

Reported on ABC radio a short time ago.
Luke Power has indicated he wants to stay with the Lions. They don't usually mention the footy that much up here on ABC.
Regards Pedro.

Luke Power said the same thing over a month ago. But still he is not signed up.
Aker's deal came and went but Lukey is still saying he wants to stay but still nothing.

Hre is an a bit of the article written about Luke Power a month ago.

Power to keep lighting up Lions' midfield
28 June 2005 Herald Sun
Jim Wilson

THE Brisbane Lions are poised to seal a new deal with Luke Power and a formal announcement is expected within a week.

Power's manager Ron Joseph will meet Brisbane officials later this week and, barring any last minute hiccups, the star Lion is expected to remain with the club and resist the temptation to head home to Melbourne.

"I'm enjoying my footy and, I suppose, my preference has been to stay with Brisbane," Power said last night.

thats a very long week so far.

Okay mikey m, it's not often I get anything that vaguely resembles a scoop or news for that matter up here on the Sunshine Coast.
So if I hear a half arsed titbit {nothing to do with boobies tommi} I'll run with it.
So if I ever come up with something that sounds relatively informative I hereby request that everyone humour me and pretend that my news maybe relevant and of some intrest.
Otherwise as I've already indicated in this thread, I'll jusy make it up.
Which will probably be more interesting anyway.
Regards Pedro.

Sorry mate. All I am saying is that the same thing was said a month ago. I am just trying to look on the positive side and that there might be a small chance of him coming down to Melb.

Has anyone seen Ron Joseph and David Allisoon in the same picture?

Isn't Ron the one handling those tricky Skinny Lappin negotiations as well?
Those are going well. I expect Lappin to re-sign in the next 5 minutes along with Power. I dont know for which club though.

Imagine the sort of leadership Marc Murphy could provide to a player like T.Lo....... just like that Eastwood movie "Every Which Way But Loose"

A story on Fox Sports has Power saying there just a few minor details to go and he will be signing. They are quoting him on this. Seems he is one to cross of our list now.

I will spin the story Carltons way.

With Brisbane re-signing Aker and Brown recently and agreeing terms with Power they will have to withdraw there back ended contract with Marc Murphy and concede that the Blues will get there man.
In other developments Mal Michael is so impressed with Carlton getting Marc Murphy that he walks out on Brisbane and agrees to sign with the Blues on base match payments.

Why do some people have trouble grasping the big picture?

Step back from the current plight and think outside the box.

I think Brizzy Blue did an analysis of the 'Cycle Syndrome of Footy' which pretty much summed it up. Teams forced to rebuild inevitably become successful. Where did the Weagles finish in 2001? The Roos in the early to mid 90's, the Aints 4-5 yrs ago etc?. Any 2 bit management consultant could do this analysis and come up with the strategy required to be successful.

At least within the current system, any club can acheive, something Murphy senior could not have acheived at the Roys in the 70's. Murphy junior is looking at a 12-14 yr career, do you think he will only go to a team that may be competitive in the short term? The kid and his family aren't that naive. Don't people think CFC would communicate this to the Murphys?

IMO we have as much chance as the Lions of luring him, in fact I reckon we probably favourites.

IMO, he will be a Blue come November. If not, there are still plenty of good kids in the Draft who are better than the retards we got on our list right now! :P

To save you searching for the Cycle thread, here tis:

We are in the best position we can be in to get murphy, we can also spin the story our way as good as the Lions.

Thats all we really need to worry about.

If we dont get Murphy - then we wont have died wondering.

We will probably get Ellis and Hurn instead of Murphy and Ellis.

Not as good, but still solid.

Point is that we have to position ourselves to get the best we can from here on. Also, we wont need a wooden spoon next year to pick up some A grade talent.

we have to do all we can to get murph, in the age a few days ago they said he would be the next ben cousins, he also is the same height and weight as Ben cousins, also i would just like to throw in that Hurn is 188cm and 92kg so he is a big laid for a midfielders
