Wood will be gone at the end of the year. If Kreuzer continues to trend upwards with his fitness levels and Gorringe doesn't develop as a forward, we'll discard them all except Kreuzer when their contracts expire, otherwise we'll re-sign Phillips and invest in getting Korcheck up to speed faster as well as looking at the FA/trade market.

We'll definitely draft a young ruck next year, probably via the rookie list.

Some american guy up to speed? You serious?
Have you watched him play football?

And spare change?
Do you realize what you're saying?
There is no such thing as spare change in our situation

Next year?
Why next year?

Because it's not this year or may year our am the other years since a whole bunch of years?

You kick the can and have it retinned then kick it again jimmy

You don't know when were going to identify a ruckman again that can compete.
Why do you say stuff like " next year " when you have no clue!

Why day stuff like that? You don't know!

We should be constantly searching for potential with realistic capabilities and surrounding them Ruth the correct tutors

Saying next year is ridiculous!
Because you're guessing at the chronological order.

Loll

You're so funny!

Why not just say the truth! We don't have a ruckman and I don't know when we're going to find one! That we should have the best mentors for the ones we have that money can buy!

Oh geeez! Wiping tears from my eyes in laughter
Because that's the truth!

Why dont you acknowledge the essence of the coaching: emphasis on ball use, 2 way pressure, recruiting and development is happening. There are no instant results and a club can not arrive without the exprience of gettting there. Reality is 2019 is when we should start making judgements

Those who cannot meet that standard will not be around for long. There will be some major pruning again at season's end. Disappointing? Absolutely. Unexpected? No. Bringing us out of our current predicament will be a great achievement for Bolton and his team.

Bolton is like Barker! The chances of him becoming a grad coach diminish with every year that passes ( logic)
And as an assistant coach.. Clubs and had coaches are constantly in search of young and fresh ideas.
Every coach has a used by date including assistants.. And this is a Rubicon moment for any coach when he either bides his time or takes the chance.
Both Barker and Bolton had to take their chance for different reasons.. The others either didn't put their hands go or out their hands down.

Carlton is not a dream destination for anybody in football now.

Player
Or child

That's the truth and you can't argue with it with facts!

The dream is Collingwood, you know that team led by Eddie and Bucks, where everyone wants to go, but for some reason with all that dream talent are still a shit football side.

We will win some games.

You just can't underestimate how badly this list has been managed for several years now. Our lack of depth and talent is the worst in the league (Richmond would be second for depth). I refuse to blame one player....or scapegoat anyone.

Some of our senior players are stuck with old habits.....bombing it etc.

Weitering is wonderful to watch and I hope we don't flower it up. I love his composure...he takes a great mark then just casually moves it on immediately. Class act, him and Ed were our best tonight.

We must continue to use the draft and it needs to be full on commitment to a rebuild...I wouldn't mind if we let some of our senior guys go if it meant we continue to get in the draft.

That's a pretty good synopsis of where we are at, I'm watching the games with no expectations, I'm just looking for the little things that show improvement, our ball use is terrible and that comes mainly from confidence and the fact that there are quite a few different players in that line up and it will take time for them to even get close to gelling, I was happy to see Paddy Cripps work his ass off to get into the game after being tagged out of the first half, he'll learn from it, Wietering and C Curnow look like players and have played 3 and 2 games respectively, they are only going to get better, we ran out of legs in the second half, so be it, Ed Curnow never stopped trying all night, Thomas tackled and ran hard.
It's simple accept the fact that we are a bottom 2 side and look for the little things that are good, there was nothing wrong with the effort, just the execution and that will improve over time

Went last night

Murphy and Gibbs are the least likely senior mids in the competition to pull their team mates out of the abyss when needed. The antithesis of Hodge/Mitchell/ Lewis

Why can't we kick a ball 30-50 m without it entering protected airspace? Same with handballs.

Casboult is NO GOOD. Play him second ruck and follower. Drop Phillips and play Rowe at FF. White can take his spot in defence

Gut running non existent. They found space. We found them

Running patterns woeful...We kick to 2v1 in their favour, lose the ball and they kick to a 2v1 in their favour. F%%^ if I know where our sparee are...oh yeah, there are 3 of them chasing one bloke who always had the time to dish it off

We have to be the easiest side to tackle. We rarely survive a tackle without a turnover or a free kick against

Arrived home today after 4 days on the beautiful Gold Coast.
It was pretty warm up there and we ran out of legs in the last quarter.
Our lack of a forward is the killer, 5 marks inside our 50 says it all.
Weitering is going to be a star and the composure on this kid is incredible.
Wasnt expecting to win and stat wise we matched them most of the night.
Our skills are terrible and the number of times we handballed into a team mates back was very frustrating, we gifted them at least 3-5 goals from turn overs.

Apparently they scored 12 of their goals from turnovers

We all know this is going to be a long haul.

We are 3 minutes into a marathon and we're already calling for heads? Phark me, am I on the Punt Rd website?

They took up two list spots on minimal salary and have contracts until the end of next year. What did they cost us otherwise?

gold, jimmae, gold!

although i do agree with synners on the loose change bit, they do seem a bit of a waste

Cheap insurance; it's not how I would have gone about it exactly, and I would have grabbed a young ruck this year, but it's a plan.

Wow... can't believe everyone is losing their minds so bad. Did you really expect something different to what is happening? No Bulldogs / Port Adelaide type miracles going to happen here. This is only the beginning of the pain. Strap yourselves in and enjoy the little glimpses. Weitering and Cripps are the future. Enjoy their development. Charlie has the feel of could be anything. Not in the class of Crippa and Weiters just yet, but could be something special. Enjoy the glimpses. Expect the losses. I know it's upsetting, but this is going to happen a lot. Stay strong!

Just watchd the prsser.
Measured.
Positive in the face of another loss.
Handled the Weitering and Cripps questions well.

The public face of the coach is very professional and I think he will turn us around like a battleship because that's what we need, a huge turning circle because then it will require an equally huge one to put us off track again.

I watched the second half again - I'd had a good weekend and thought I needed a bit more disheartening before a tough week of work.

To me the biggest takeaway was the timidity of ball movement after the half back flank. There were many movements and sideways chips where I think we were too scared to get caught, instead choosing <50% likelihood kicks (which often came back over our head). IU think it's a mix of trying to keep on to the ball and not turn over, plus the lack of forward movement / space.

Big things to work on for our forward / mid coach.

All up I thought our defence was pretty good. Weitering and Docherty in particular were calm and measured. Doc needs to iron out those 2-3 woeful kicks per game.

Bulldogs and Port didn't achieve a jump straight away. It took a number of drafts and strategic trades to make it happen.
