...............why should we be rushing to re-sign a third of a list that is favourite for the spoon?

I know what you are saying but some of these are in our current best 22 in Henderson, Kreuzer, Curnow , Carrazzo and Armfield.

Problem is, while 3 of those are still on our list we ain't anywhere near finals.
I!ll let u work out which 3

Menzel? He won't be going anywhere. Way too young to give up on and has a huge upside. Calm down.

Yarran and Henderson are the two and I guess it would depend on what is on offer.

38 players used this year
Fields Holman Buckley Walsh Menzel Cripps all learning craft and good that they are being given the opportunity
Hope Board etc are giving Barker credit for blooding all these players

Unless he finds a way to get us to more than 10-12 goals a game (even allowing for the injuries and the criminal dismantling of our forward line over the past few years) there is no way Barker will get the gig.

40 players actually and we would have used Sheehan and Giles no doubt, had have they been fit and good to go.

That will see us through for the year though............we're done

I don't think Barker has been the only one selecting the side since MM left.

Someone did mention on either here or BF, that there has been a directive from elsewhere to "play the kids", but just not all at once.....

Based on our current injuries, and assuming we're still permitted to elevate for Sheehan until he returns, we've actually got one spare.

Byrne's elevation will end when Giles resumes in early August, so we'll probably keep that spare spot open for him, and another elevation slot will dry up due to Sheehan's likely return mid-August.

If we're trying to get a game into everyone (though I don't think this is the case), Gowers would probably get the Sheehan-tied elevation, leaving Byrne and Russell with a greater opportunity for senior footy.

No doubt the selection committee has been picking the side but I wouldn't expect anyone would have more say than the senior coach.

Agree BV still think Barker whether he is deciding or being directive is really taking one for the team with these selections and lets face it it is very unusual for anyone whether it be player board or administrator to do this at Carlton recently

I have no doubt it would of been part of the discussion with Barker when he was appointed. SOS etc want to have a good look at the list before the end of the year. I like what they're doing. Introducing kids whilst maintaining a competitive side. Not easy to do but it's working.
