There’s a real chance we could lose him to Tigers.

I do wonder what would happen if we make it to 10th, win a “Final”, end up 8th or 7th.

Do we make it public the AFL have screwed us over with Walker?

We could say … you’d think by trading star player Curnow to give us 2 first round draft picks for Walker would have been enough to secure Walker but such was the harshness of the ill thought new Draft rules, to please Saints President, Bassett, we miss out on the traditional father son, with 2 first round picks.

We can argue …. we can’t force more stars to trade table against their will, for more picks. We already traded Curnow and let go TDK and SOS to ensure we got Dean last year and Walker this year.

We can argue that the Tassie concessions make our 2027 first round pick unattractive to bundle with this years 2 first rounders to help us get our Father Son who has committed to us, and have developed over last 2 years. No teams can give us the picks we need.

I wonder if any team below us would dare and risk picking Walker?

Easy to say yes they would, but they risk his future demand for a trade to Carlton after his 2 year contract. The team that takes him look like pricks in the footy world, let alone the criticism they would face from their members for wasting a high pick on someone who would not to resist the pull from his fathers club….bla bla bla

I want egg on the face of Swann and the AFL and get Walker too. Hopeful?

What chance of teams allowing Walker to get to us if we make 10th or 8th?

 and in denial

Maybe 1 year if he follows the Jason Horne Francis model, leaving North after one year.

We have to threaten the AFL with court action, our board needs to come to the party big time. The AFL have put us in a ridiculous situation with rules that clearly discriminate against less successful clubs. You can’t treat f/s picks like regular annual picks, or even NGA picks, you may have 2-3 in a few years then nothing for 20 years. Their very serendipity is inherent. Make clubs pay true value, but you can’t ban clubs from taking a f/s like they are doing with us.

We need to say it publicly for what it is, it’s a ban on clubs taking father/son prospects. It’s also a clear inducement for clubs to tank.

It’s anything but true value. It’s incentivised shonky underbidding.

As if the worst team in the league is going to miss out on a freebie.

It’s no mean feat to have conjured up an auction with more hair on it than Magic Millions.

Beautifully put.

Swann had so much time on this, or he was procrastinating and rushed this through. His reasoning is problematic, almost vindictive in what he stated...."Carlton have had a good lick". I say go for Swann's throat, expose his negligence, ambiguity, hypocrisy, timing and the lack of thought to come up with this rhubarb. Then he can sit on the rhubarb.

I really have a gut feeling we will at the last minute appeal.....after all Swanny missed any reasonable deadline, arguably by 7 to 19 months. whatever he missed reasonable deadlines. As if they are going to do carlton any favours if we play good doggy.

Yes Bondi , call him out . No one has done more damage in such a short amount of time than Swann . Hopefully they get Brad Scott back into the joint . Scott aint the most likeable bloke going around but is an excellent administrator . Did a good job when he was with the AFL .
