For our sake we hope the board are succesful in their bid to retrieve the lost pick from 2002..

But with the total ameteurish incompetence these clowns like Smorgo have shown in their dealings, i'd say the chances of that are 1,000,000 - 1 !

I kid you not...

Synbad, any updates on when this planned course of action is going to happen?

What I have heard is not promising - but willing to stand corrected to those who have a closer ear to the source.

We know there are plenty of "sneaky leakers" around.

Do tell... but Im intrigued to know which course of action is good news and which one isnt... To me we lost, took the fall, and should move on. To me bad news would be pursuing the course of action.

I gather others would like us to pursue this ?

Molesy,

the answer to your question is:

Yep...if there is a case there...and there seems to be for a PP. It's all in the definition, and I don't think the AFL defined it, let alone the fact they allowed us an opportunity to pick AW down the track via PP.

Or, does the AFL have something on us? That's not the point.

Lets see if this board has balls. Blueballs.

If the approach is still to pursue some sort of compensation for the draft penalties of 2002 then it is ridiculous and absolutely futile. The moment for some sort of confrontation on those penalties is LONG gone!

If it is to push the undeniable merits and reaffirm how denying our eligibility for a pre-draft PP is manifestly unjust then I am all for it. The rage needs to maintained here even after it is a lost cause. Its about right versus wrong, good v. evil, and the battle is worth fighting for. It is about principles!!! :x

My understanding is that the club has made 3 or 4 representations to the Commission on this issue, and the AFL is not budging.

I would write a letter to the AFL myself - but as Tommi knows I am persona non grata  down at AFL House so anything I would write would just be binned.

I get my kicks from defaming "The Spew" on this forum.

My understanding that is that Geelong have been particularly unhelpful with respect to the representations they have made to the AFL with changes to the Priority Pick Rules.

Having gained Matthew Scarlett, Gary Ablett and Tom Hawkins - (all clearly first round draft choices) as late as the second and third round as father/son choices - they are standing back and grinning like "Chesire Cats" about the whole situation.

The point being that Geelong were one of the clubs baying (or should that be meowing) for a change in the Priority Pick Rules - knowing that they were going to score (and have scored) a few cheap first round picks.

Ultimately we have Collingwood to thank - who managed to gain Picks 2 and 5 last year after a single year plumbing the depths of the AFL ladder - we on the other hand have to plumb those depths for 3 @#$%&! YEARS to gain a similar benefit.
