The priority pick is not a draft pick as such.. technically its a different animal and as suych they believe it should never have been taken away...

So i think they do think they can win it back.

My point was to the AFL's new rules with respect to the Priority Pick which means the criteria for qualification for the pick means Year Zero is 2006 - which means our 16th place 4 wins in 2005 doesn't actually count for anything.

The club is actually going to legally challenge the loss of the 2002 Priority Pick - which was taken away from us under the Draconian Black Friday Penalties.

The Eagles must be reforming for another world tour - or is hell freezing over.

Exactly Agro .. we should be trying to get pick17 to become pick1. Everything else is just a none issue, but hell if it works and we get the first 3 picks in this years draft, I won't be complaining. :P

Sounds like that is where it is going, I think someone said a little while ago that several submissions have already been put to the AFL.

So it sounds like the club is past the 'pretty please with sugar on top' stage.

So I guess now the AFL will put around the official decree again warning people away from dealing with us during trade week?

I get the impending feeling that this will be a big fact tease that will end in dissapointment.

For a small moment we challenge to gain picks picks 1, 2 and 18 instead of 1, 17, 19 or something like that.. Awesome.

Supporters like me imagine the possibilities. Hopes are raised, an awesome injection of talent may lift the malaise over us.

Reality check. I can't see this succeeding, maybe that's how we all should fell, that way the dissapointment is lessened.

If by some small miracle it does succeed then we can jump for joy.

Note, I do applaud and encourage to powers that be to push this as far as possible. I have no issue with that. I just don't think us supporters should be banking on it. I'd be shocked if we won, we never win at anything (at the moment).

I am however saying my prays, "dear lord, please lets us gain our priority pick prior to round one, I promise to be good" :)

Dennis.

I still think the approach is wrong as the case should be solely based on the discrimanatory nature of the rule amendments on the poor results we have sustained in the last 2 years.

But I applaud the club on fighting this to the death. And so it should!

Well they better have the case heard in a non-Melbourne court otherwise you'll end up with some Richmond supporting judge going "I'll be damned if Carlton is getting picks 1&2 in this draft on my watch!".

No F that. If they took away a pick they shouldn't have they can give us picks 1,2,18,20 for this draft!

How much is this all going to cost? It's worth throwing at least $100k at it even if it fails.

(a) We are going ahead with it

or

(b) We were going ahead with it

If opetion (a), when are they going ahead with it? The draft is getting closer so any legal challenge by us could easily be delayed by the AFL in the courts until after the draft.

If we do proceed I hope we win, however, I think we should have taken this issue on when the penalty was originally handed down.

As they say, the horse has bolted........and probably won a few Melbourne Cups by now.

The cauliflower at the AFL have set the precedent - if they can change the draft order less than 10 hours before the 2002 National Draft to screw us - they can change the draft order in the same time frame to assist us.

Difference is that those C@#! that you refer to actually make the rules.......they will do whatever suits them, unless the legal system orders them to do otherwise.
