your just being a loud mouth who thinks he knows it all.

maybe Denis knows about bringing kids on. Maybe he doesn't want to play them all at once. Maybe he has a system thats got nothing to do with picks or Digby's or any of that shite. Maybe he is doing what he thinks is in the best long term interests of the kid and the club.

We want our kids tossed in and played because we are keen, we want to 'bag 'em and tag 'em'.

Denis is developing them, and from what I have seen so far, I think he's doing it brilliantly.

I don't mind you not agreeing.

I don't mind you having your own vision

but I think you should take your 'I know best the rest of you have little minds' and shove it where it best fits. 8)

Everyone understands Synbad, don't panic, everyone (well most) are all here for the long haul, we all get this is hard, its going to take long term planning, it's going to mean we have to accept development and long term choices, have faith in people Synbad, people aren't stupid just because they do not agree, its just some of people want to keep some of the babies with the bath water.

true

now i'd probably play chambers and longmuire because we need to deicde on those two. Russell doesn't need to play yet. he is still learning in the bullies. But those two well hmmmm.....

Mind you I do no like T-Lo but Denis sees something. Chambers I'd like to see played through to the end of the year. he may be the hard running tagger we need (has the speed) to free up Walks.

dannyboy, youd never have write a great piece like Homer`s 'Odyssey' cos you would have had Ulysses run his ship into the rocks and die tempted by the sirens very early.
Spme of us being that sucked in by meaninglesness that were taking our eye off what its all about.
Greatness!!!!

Id hate to be tempted by the 'sirens' to win nothing games and lose what we need to be great again...

synbad i think you're on the right track in some aspects but found this quote rather baffling
Quote:
By not playing them now its taking longer to get them to a level required to be an AFL footballer.. so are you tanbking future games because theyre not developed earlier???

maybe some of these kids just aren't ready yet? you can't play all the kids at once.

then the very next line you say
Quote:
I really think some of you should learn perspective and patience
maybe you could apply the same logic for some of our kids running around in the aints?

By the way i think hartlett could play this week and not be to out of his depth. he's gunna be a great get i reckon

Odysseus took ten years to get back to Ithaca.

Will it take us another ten years to get the flag??

Ask the Swans how long it can take....

At least when Odysseus returned his dog still recognised him...

Maybe the draft picks are the sirens seducing us with their songs only to be revealed as Murray Vances.

now Synners in your text Odyessus wouldn't even have sailed to Troy - you would have seen it as just another meaningless war and not worth the risk to his future

re: Hartlett vs Digby...I would always play younger players in preference to older ones regardless of mature bodies and players who had no future I would be getting rid off...dont believe in wasting time on players who wont make it...
Playing younger players for development sakes isnt tanking if its being done for that reason in mind and I dont have a issue with it.....tanking is players and coaching staff not trying their best every week.

When we have Collingwood and Carlton supporters wanting to lose so they can have bragging rights over draft picks then you have to wonder about the game and where we are at.
Like I have said before I dont have an issue with the tankers, just the system..

Synbads Carlton Odyssey.

We have to negotiate a few obstacles.

Sirens are the meaningless wins that tempt us short term to win but wreck our chances long term.

Chosing to flirt and loiter around with the beautiful and intoxicating Nausicaa(priority draft picks). over a period of time we decide we should move on and winning a premiership ,, but it was good while it lasted just we had bigger fish to fry.

Cyclops is the giant who wanted us dead.. we end up taking out his eye.(AFL and Demetriou)

Jack Elliott is Circe with the wave of his wand he turns all our players into swines.

We have to avoid the Charybdi(which s swallows the sea in a whirlpool, then spits it up again. ..and Scylla exacts her toll that smashes the ships that cower away from Charybdi against its cliff (The current climate of the club)

Finally returning to Ithaka (MCG) dressed in rags and sucking in the opposition exacting our revenge on the wifes suitors ( StKilda and all the other pretenders) to win back Penelope ( the 17th flag)..
