Joint captains between Whits and Stevo i prob accept though still think Whits indescretion with Scotto is the worst possible timing to muck up.

Rotating captaincy ..... only one team has done that and thats the Saints and well do you think that has really worked .....

I think you will find post grant Thomas ... R Lyon will give the captaincy to Hayes or Riewalt for a extended period of time.

Maybe look at the hawks and use Stevo in a similar role .. we know that vandenberg is only a fill in until Hodge gets the permanent gig much like Stevo for Murph.

I also think that Stevo is someone who will improve in his on field leadership with the Captaincy and actually get more responability..

Anyway bottom line we both seem to agree is that Murph is the natural captaincy option in 1-2 years ... so if we think that then we both acknowledge that the next 1-2 years is only a temp position unless either lance or Stevo excels in the position..

Thornton for Captain.

Arguments against:
He screams at players on the field:

Rebuttal:
This shows passion and a sheer desire to win. Thornton is not satisfied with simply floating across half back and taking marks when they are available. He wants to stop every attack, prevent every goal, and force as many potential goals into behinds or turnovers. He may not be as fast as his man, but he'll try push him wide if he can't match him for pace. He may not be as tall, but he'll try and think ahead to get in the right position. He may get frustrated, but I'd be worried if he didn't considering our poor midfield performances over the past few years and Thornton being our only real key defender.

Argument against:
He wanted out at the end of the year:

Rebuttal:
He asked for a three year contract, he deserved a three year contract, and yet was not offered one despite the fact Carlton were at the time supposed to be pushing a youth policy. I think it is safe to assume his manager also played a part, and he was obviously tempted by the big bucks Hawthorn was throwing at him. He is worth every cent of what we are paying him in my opinion.

Thornton should be Captain in my opinion, stuff people saying he gets upset on the field,to me he has passion, you don't want some wimp Captain slapping someone bottom constantly stuffing up and not manning up,you want someone directing the other players and listening.

Wasnt Thornton the player who wanted to leave Carlton and only stayed because he couldnt get to Hawthorn...

He needs to gain back the respect he lost in 2007.. He must be committed to the Blues and believe in the Carltons future first...

Sets a poor example with his tantrums!

Doesn't necessarily have to contribute to the Carlton part of the forum, but she is a contributor never the less.

A contributor yes.....but never fails to rubbish Carlton and Carlton players with every chance she gets......and every person on this site that tolerates her bile and hatred of Carlton should be ashamed of themselves.....of course she says she's joking.....

True Carlton supporters hate Collingwood.....there IS no friendly fire.

If she wants to rubbish Carlton; she should associate with Collingwood supporters......not Carlton people who have been on the bottom for too long and don't need Collingwood supporters to infiltrate a Carlton Supporters Site on the pretext of being "a contributor"; who can then legitimately take cheap shots at the Carlton Football Club and it's players
as a Talking Carlton Member.

We are at last looking forward for the first time in years; and we have this "long time contributor"; laughing at us and making snide remarks.

Enoughs enough!

Agree 100 percent she's nothing but a troll

Make Murphy captain. I thought Simmo a few months ago but murphy will be captain one day. So give it too him, lets look to the future. Whitnall isnt captain material and this proves it. Has a bung knee cant fully train yet is in Ballarat, plastered. Yeah captaincy material.

First time I have been able to get online since the Friday.

Red could not possibly be captain after 'leading' four young players out on the town.

Regardless of whether he was involved or not, he should not have been out.

Perhaps he and the rest should duck down the Carlton FC Shop and buy those cute little Carlton watches, so that they can ALL know what time it is.

Scotland has some serious alcohol/anger issues. Not to mention issues with women, who he keeps hitting. A real man in my book. :x

Love your posts Tommi - could not agree more.

Fancy Lance telling the media that none of the players were wearing watches, which is how they lost track of time.

Mmmmmmmmm! Walker is another option. But he's just starting to show some consistancy. I don't want a Captaincy to burden he's development.

But perhaps keep Kouta as Captain in his final year and have a youthfull group for Vice Captains?

Captain:- Kouta
Vice Captains:- Simpson, Walker, Murphy.

Another option is Fev, or are we still off Fev because of what happened last year?

I would let Kouta run with it for another year.

As for future, Walker, Murphy, Gibbs & Simpson all display "leadership" qualities.

Why do we believe that becoming captain is a negative to a young player rather than an incredible boost of confidence in their leadership qualities?

Had Lance only been out with Scotland, I would say this is a non issue for him in his captaincy ambitions BUT he had other young players with him, which showed an incredible lack of leadership.

I'm sure his wife is pleased that he was out so late while she was at home with the kids.

Depends which way you're looking at it. I'm glad that Lance was out looking after some of our new kids. Situation may have been even worse if there wasn't a cool head to get everyone in a taxi and out of the trouble spot.

How can you let a non event like this ruin a great Carlton week?
You've all lost the plot.

Hitting a woman, is not a non issue.

Being out til 5am is not a non issue.

Being so totally blind that the police could not interview them is not a non issue.

If our good news week has been wrecked, don't blame us, but point the finger where it belongs.

Good point, maybe Whitnall stopped the situation from getting much worse.

Scotland should be warned by the club that if he acts up again, he is out!

These are allegations at this stage. Lets show a little faith in our players.

The kids had already gone home before the incident occurred. It was just Lance and Scotland by that time.

I don't think you can pull any positives for Lance out of this.
