I like Bell's intensity and effort but his lack of poise and skill are glaring and are always going to hold him back from being anything more than a good ordinary player. Brisbane or Gold Coast's second rounder (around pick 20) would be a great deal for us.

2nd rounder to use on a F/S pick?

Here is one way I might wind up happy with the current scenario:

Delist: Ellard, Carrazzo, Jones, Tutt, Warnock, Watson, Judd, Wood (r), Johnson (r), Russell (r), Fields (r) (net TPP space: ~$1.1m)

Trade out: Henderson [pick 10], Rowe [good home], White [3rd->2nd rd pick upgrade or 3rd rd pick] (net TPP: ~$800k)

Promote: Sheehan, Byrne (net TPP: ~-$80k)

Re-sign: Kreuzer [3 years], Giles [2 years], Everitt [2 years], Curnow [2 years], Armfield [1 year] (net TPP: ~-$150k)

Trade in: Stewart [GWS, pick 19-30] (net TPP: ~-$150k)

PSD in: Carlisle [3 years] (net TPP: ~-$450k)

Free Agency in: Grant [2(+1) years] (net TPP: ~-$300k)

Draft in: 1 (Weitering), 10, Rice, SOSOS, 4th round pick (net TPP: ~-$420k)

Rookie Draft in: 1, 19, 37, Korcheck (net TPP space: ~-$150k)

Net TPP change: ~$200k

2016 Best 22:

FB: Weitering Jamison Byrne
HB: Tuohy Carlisle Sheehan
C: Docherty Murphy Yarran
HF: Buckley Everitt Menzel
FF: Stewart Casboult Walker

RR: Kreuzer Cripps Gibbs

Int: Thomas, Simpson, Boekhorst, Graham

Reserves:

FB: Dick Giles Smith
HB: DVR <Pick 10> Rice
C: Armfield Curnow Holman
HF: Bell Jaksch Grant
FF: Silvagni Foster Gowers

RR: Korcheck, Whiley, Walsh

Int: <rookie picks> + NB listed players

Why delist Jones, and pay out the 2 years left on his contract, and then recruit Grant for 300k to play reserves?

Looks good.
Just a shame Carlisle will want about 6-700k. We paid Daisy 750k, so anyone else coming to the club with upside will probably want the same or near abouts.

Just looking at the reserves team, why did you keep Armfield and Curnow to play reserves? Why recruit Grant to play reserves football? My personal opinion from now on is if we recruit a ready made player they should be good enough to be in the starting 18. If they aren't then go with the young blokes. Don't recruit anyone over 23.

We currently have what appears to be an exodus of players and many players still uncontracted beyond this year.
I sure hope the club knows what it is doing.

Like it apart from getting Grant (another spud) and re signing Curnow & Armfield on longer than one year deals.

Clearly a player group that is fractured and divided.

Doesn't say much about its 'leaders' of whom I presume will remain in the role for the rebuild.

To everybody asking about certain players playing in the reserves, I offer you one simple explanation: depth. That first 22 probably won't play a single game as a team.

Not sure how the math with Stewart works out. A player worth a second round pick and is in our best 22 is going to cost approx $200k under league average. can't see that happening. and Jones will be on the list next year, people need to give up on that dream.

I've heard Daisy is on 1.25m

Seems that way. I will say however, Murph has stepped up the last couple of months. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes, but on field he's been a great leader.

Given we'll have another $620k freed up after 2016 under that scenario, why couldn't you just backload contracts like that?

Can someone confirm if Judd qualified for our veteran's list? If he did then as much as $250k of his contract may not have counted under the TPP.

They do. It's called fix the problem by starting again and recruiting players with specific qualities and needs.

No more has beens, no more junk players, no more injured heart muscles.

A new coach, a new recruiting methodology, a new strategy for #17.

It's awesome what we are doing!

I'd go the other way and fill next year to the limit. They won't be competitive and more frees up as the team improves.

..sooking Hendo, and lazy types like menzel and yarran, or selfish players like bell.. ....if Gibbs next year can match murphy's post-MM games' intensity and work rate, and the other leaders follow suit.. ..i'll be happy.. ..the playing culture always needed to be broken right down.. ..I think hendo got the bad news early, and he succumbed to it.... ..understandable, but not what you need from your senior kpp of the next five years, which he would have been.. ..so instead of changing the clubs mind, he backs it up.. ..pick 10ish and move on.. ..free up some coin to help lock in cripps longterm..

If I'm right about Judd I'm not sure if we have other Veterans to fill the gap, so there might not be any more cap space to fill without risking going over the cap.

Same here.

Frankly, I don't care who leaves as long as we get value in the trades.
