3 players short ?..............every list has its shortcomings. Our list is far better than a lot suggest............for instance,Throw Chad Cornes to CHB and Daniel Kerr in the guts and how do you reckon we would go ? i reckon we good go pretty bloody good. And thats only two good additions.

Dont think injuries account for all of it at all - beat them in Rd 1 when they had Johnstone, Pickett and Davey....what was their excuse then?

Sorry to all of you who thought the question posed was a 'what if'. The question posed was a simplistic crossover of us beating a top 4 team who happened to be 3 players short.

Three players and more players.

Not interested in depth???

youre not a good team till you have 30 very good players and ten developing players .

Not in the salary cap I dare say. But I know what you're saying. I think you need 5 guns, 10 very good players, 7 guys who wont muff up their kicks and be useful generally PLUS 20 or so others at various stages of development with a position or 3 in mind.

Look depth we can worry about after the Club starts to actually use all of its draft picks rather than give them up for floatsam from other Clubs.

I just found it interesting that the Demons were 3 players down and we beat them. In Round 1 we beat them without Miller, Rivers and 1 other.

I know we're crap Synbad I was just trying to work out how crap we are. But then to others this was a 'what if' question so clearly my post is as crap as our list.

Were a percentage of 74 odd crap.

i think % tells the story and has been telling us the story for the last few years.

Dont look at wins/ loss ration (which is bad) look at percentage.

You can get over the line every now and again...

Remember the Swans and the Saints beat us in 95 too.

The real yardstick is the %

Richmond's percentage is almost as bad as ours because of 3 100 point losses incurred when they've lost their key players. That doesnt make them crap, that means they've got no depth. With Richardson, Gaspar and Kellaway near the end I think they are in a lot of trouble.

But if you win more games your percentage will improve. Its as simple as that. Add a stronger midfield unit to Carlton (or kill someone elses midfield with nicely timed hamstring twangs) and the balance changes.

Our percentage is low because of:

a) not winning and
b) some poor games like the Collingwood second half fade, the Adelaide last quarter collapse. I reckon if we had 3 more good players those events would have happened differently.

But i guess that shows you & I see the output differently. Just different views i guess.
