1) half Anglo (mum's side), half Russian (dad's side)

2) Carlton supporter because of Mum... I didn't choose, I was just born a Blue blood.

1) I'm from good convict stock - can be traced back to the first fleet apparently.

2) '79 Grand Final. I was watching it on TV and arbitrarily picked the team that I wanted to win, and they got up. Coincidentally my uncle, who I absolutely adored, was already a Blues fan.

2. Bradley, Motley & Kernahan sealed the deal after a wayward youth.

1) Anglo

2) Ken Hunter. As a kid I was a Claremont supporter in the WAFL and he was favourite player. Initially I liked Richmond as their jumper was similar however when Ken Hunter was recruited to Carlton I was brought to my senses.

1. Born here. But my parents are from Cyprus.

2. My mum arrived in Australia about 55 years ago and grew up in Brunswick. Apparently she used to collect the bottles around Princess Park with her siblings for extra cash, but rarely had the money to actually get in. At least thats what I'm told. Growing up the whole family and relatives were Carlton so I had no choice... and I'm so glad I didn't!!!! ;)

I've also given my son no choice. Wrapped in Blue from Day One. Carlton Member from week 2, recognized the Carlton theme song at 4-5 months and now belts out his own rendition of "Lily of Laguna" when he goes shopping that can be heard 3 aisles back... so I guess he's got no choice either!!! ;)

1. Pure mongrel

2. Carlton is in my genes.

I would have received an almighty kick up the arse if I had chosen to barrack for my mother's club.

She follows Essendon*. :x

1. English.

2. I think its because my dad supports Carlton but I'm not 100% on that being the sole reason. I've supported Carlton all my life.

2. Grew up in a street in Coburg where barracking for anything other than Carlton would have been dangerous. The bloke across the road was a groundsman at the MCC and gave me a football from Princes Park which helped.

Greek Cypriot on dad's side he arrived in Australia (Brunswick) in 1950 and was immediately taken to Carlton games at Princes Park by his friends/cousins who were already here (thank goodness for that Number 19 tram down Sydney Rd). :P

I wont bore you guys with the Tomato Box story again - but my first memories of watching a Carlton game is standing on one in front of the Heatley Stand in the late 60s.

Greek on Mum's side (Ithaki) Mum was born here and she barracked for Carlton as well - but her parents barracked for Collingwood  - never got the story from her why she barracked for Carlton.

1. Greek

2. In the early eighties I went to Southland with my mate's sisters so they could see Vince Colosimo appear at Just Jeans to promote his movie Street Hero. At the same time some VFL players were running a handball comp on the main stage. My friends being Carlton supporters swarmed to the area once they recognised Rod Ashman. Whilst they were getting autographs he asked me if I wanted one and I said no thanks, I'd prefer the one of Richmond's Michael Roache. At that point he grabbed the front of my shirt and told me that will never do and that I had to support the Blues from that day forth.

1. English - Irish - German - Italian - and a bit of Spanish (true Aussie) - married to a 100% Italian

2. Navy Blue from birth (Dad's orders) - First game with Dad '65, first final '67, first premiership '68 (and every one since)

Lebo. My Dad came out 60 years ago. Lived and worked in Carlton (Elgin St). Relatives tried to convince him to follow the filth. So he said take me to a game first and then I will decide. As luck would have it they took him to a Coll v Carl game. As soon as Collingwood ran out onto the ground he had made up his mind.
He said the Collingwood colours reminded him of death. He immediately declared himself a carlton supporter. They pleaded with him saying Coll had won many more flags than Carl (at that stage). He stood firm refused to listen to them. Carl went on to win the game that day and well we all know who has won more flags now don't we.

Thanks Dad...for all the great memories that your decision brought for me.

1 - What is your Ethnic background ?
2 - Why did you choose to support the Mighty Blues ?

1. My mum's family came over on the first boat (first fleet); my dad's family came over on the last one (from New Zealand)
2. Coz I met a guy in 1982-3 who went for Carlton, and when in 1997 I had to choose a team to support in the AFL (coz Murdoch tore the heart out of Rugby League with that Superleague farce) I remembered that guy and chose his team. Good thing he wasn't a supporter of another / worse club!

Hey - Jamie: it wasn't you was it? Jindabyne 1982-3 - that guy, who was also named Jamie (a tenuous link I know) was there with this guy called Max and young Robbie and his parents (Robbie's father used to drive trams and Max got into trouble a few years later) ...

I think the multiculturalism is shown by our motto - it's in Italian!

(Well, OK - Latin, but the Romans came from Italy!)

1. italian - Sicilian and Calabrian to be more specific.
2. when Nonno came to Australia he was a huge Barassi fan. First he went for Essendon* and made Nonna, Zia, Zio and mum all go for Essendon*. When Barassi moved to Carlton and Nonno decieded to go for Carlton and mum felt sorry for him and decided to go for the blues.
So how did i end up a blues supporter...
it was between carlton (mum) and collingwood (dad) whoever finished higher on the ladder the year i was born was the team i went for
