Adelaide crows premiership player Andrew Eccles

Fremantle Dockers Gun Troy Longmuir

Yes, we actively chased them both.

Warren Ralph.
Was to be the next big thing from WA. Debuted with 9 I think, and a couple years later was delisted after a reserves premiership.

Brad Pearce.
May be harsh because of his 1995 year, but didn't do much after that I would suggest.

Michael Mansfield.
We gave up pick 31 for him (which turned out to be Paul Chapman!).

I'm not sure there was much expectation placed on most of the aforementioned footballers careers at Carlton save for half a dozen. But FWIW, I'll throw in Stephen Kernahan. For a bloke who signed with Carlton in 1981, he did nothing for the club for 5 years except add more grey to the beard of the 'Flying Doormat'. Talk about hype!

You can add Lindsay Smith in there, he's the bloke Pagan delisted /traded twice in two years

We had other 'gun rucks' like

Chris Bryan
Cameron Cloke
Callan Beasy
Adam Mathews

IMO Adam Mathews was good but not robust for AFL.

Thought he played a couple of good seasons. A limited player I'll grant you, but we've had plenty worse.
Name a big game with lots of pressure and close checking, in which he played well!!!!

Starred against the bottom runged teams, but after we played Norf (first vs second) and Jezza wanted to see "who dropped their heads and who went into their shells", Dennis was history. Michael Young and Peter Francis, while not being as silky and flashy and fashionable took over the wing positions and the rest actually IS history.

Now I'd love to see another thread called "Great players that Wes Lofts let go". We all know who's at the top of that list!!!!! (And it ain't Dennis Collins, I'll give ya the tip!).
You'll be happy to know Denis continued to display the same rugged determination when he came to WA to play for East Perth, and didn't we let him know it.

My biggest regret is he is best remembered for getting a back hander from Robbie Muir and proceeding to re-inact the death scene from romeo and Juliet (he played Juliet), all while wearing our proud colours.

I've no doubt it hurt, but so does kicking your toe.

I reckon your coach (Pagan) has a valid challenger.

Cross dressing dual Brownlow medallist anyone ?
