Here's an alternate question

Option 1

Fev, Whitnall, Lappin, Stevens and Kouta are our best players for the remainder of the year. Bentick, Walker, Carazzo and Bryan spend most of the game's on the bench and we win another 2 games.

Option 2

Pagan turns the midfield over the younger players. Walker, Carazzo, Bryan, Bentick, Waite, Thornton and Livo are fantastic, Houla picks up his game. puts his body on the line a lot more. We win 6 of our remaining games.

Now don't point out Option 2 is impossible because we won 4 games late last year. Lets suppose our younger players surprise us.

Which option would you prefer?
I reckon youre dreaming.,....thats what i reckon.... :D

I knew you couldn't answer the question Synbad :) and you're probably right I am dreaming, but its a much more relevant question to ask

Option 2..play the kids...but it wont lead to winning many games but will lead to the Priority pick...the kids will get experience and you get a handle on who can make it and who wont...

Playing kids on mass is tanking.....it just eases the conscience of some...some kids will shine but you will lose most of your matches and in the latter part will cop some beatings.......
I expect to see more posters swing over to the play the kids/tank view point as the draft gets closer.....all the arm chair recruiters will want as many picks as possible and secretly will be wanting us not to win many games as the draft/trade period draws nearer........

Whats going to happen next year? and the year after?.....I reckon Nick Stevens can take the next two years off....his services wont be required as we play kids on mass and look for more priority picks...its a ludicrous football world we live in...

If a someone wants Carlton to lose and I want Carlton to win then yes I sure as hell am a better supporter than that person. If you hope Carlton lose then I can't see any point in attending the games.

Do you leave games early ever? I don't, so I'm a better supporter than those who do.

It's all subjective

I want us to win another 5 games and next year be in the same position as we are this year except with more rejects to get us to 7 wins again next year.. to be in the same position as we were this year.. so more rejects can come in so we can win 7 wins again that year and maybe 8 wins.. so we can be in the same position as we were again next year.. to win six wins that year (cos we had a couple of injuries) so as we can be in the same position as we were that year... etc etc etc etc....

I can see your logic ' The Game'... ripper idea.!!!!

I bet your favourite movie is Groundhog Day too....

Its a non-issue synbad, we'll be lucky to win one more game so it makes no difference if I want us to win.
Loved Groundhog day!

option 2 is a must, if we are to go forward. We have nothing to lose, maybe lose by more goals to start with, but at least the younger players will benefit instead of having there confidence continually shattered being on and off the ground. I ask anybody on this site who has played football regardless of what standard or has known young players who are in a similiar position as our own young players ( play bit parts on and off the bench, having to picking up the oposition when the senior players run forward of the ball and deliver badly and then being held responsible, and not given any protection when they do win the ball or placed in pockets out of the play & in one week out the next to name a few) and say that it is good for future development .
If we are on the bottom now, why not choose option 2, I don't think there is a lower position we can aim for.

Hey Fevola if you do not want Carlton to win that means you are not supporting Carlton. It is not subjective it is fact.

Option 1. Keep the kids blitzing them for the Bullants. Have the kids build a really strong winning unit together with the Bullies. Once they have all stacked on a few Kgs and are absolutely punishing VFL sides, bring an entire unit of 5 across in one hit. Keep the ageing stars and retreads plodding on in the AFL, holding the fort until the next great Carlton team is ready to go. Add a few draft picks into the mix at the end of the year.

To those that say I am not a good supporter because I'd prefer the draft picks to second or third bottom spot I'd say garbage. I probably just put long term consistent onfield success before short term immediate success. But then again, immediate gratification resulting in ongoing mediocrity seem to be the defining characteristics of our generation, so what would I know!!!

Somebody please explain to me why second last is so much better than last and please dont bore me by using the word pride. Pride is so over-rated, results are what count. Pride = weakness. If you have to swallow some pride to get to the next level, then that is the cost of success.

We all expect the players to sweat blood for the club, to 'take one for the team' well right now, around your monday morning office coffee machines is where we all collectively cop the 'hip and shoulder' from some cretinous St Kilda fan. Personally, I'd rather have a short, sharp, intense pain and then return to the way things should be than some lingering ongoing palsy.

Carlton should open a new members package next year called 'The losers club'. That way everyone who wants Carlton to lose can all sit together and barrack for the opposition every week and bag the sh!t out of Campo.

Never bagged campo!!

Man there is the way it is and the way it should be. In life these are not always the same thing. Time for this club to get smart and start exploiting the system legitimately, like some of the other clubs have been doing for years.

I remember back in the 80's & 90's how much I used to laugh at Collingwood and St Kilda fans becuase their teams were always shit and finished down the ladder. I could be arrogant and do this because my team was nearly always better than that. I never want to get to a point where I reckon that missing finals 4 years in a row is OK. Better to cop a hit, do everything legally available to improve as quickly as possible, and then restore the natural order of things (ie we are great and everyone else is shit).
