I did revell in yesterdays loss.

Because i was there and got to witness the future - which was our first half effort. I also got to abuse West Coast supporters (the idiots they are)

Anyways its about the long term and i take more joy out of watching Walker , Waite , Carazzo etc develop

I respect that.

But to me that's not revelling in a loss, that's revelling in watching developing talent emerge.

Glad you gave it to some of those bacwards small-town hicks from Perth who think that the AFL ends at the nullarbor....

Fid, Goddard has a looong way to go before he's a good player. And even then he'd have to get better again to get anywhere near the level of hype associated with him, pre-draft.

I don't think anyone here claims we have any hard men this year. That's part of our problem.
I think it's more that we like pointing out that your so-called hard men are pretenders, or one-trick ponies.
Just the addition of Hamill triples your hard-man stocks, and that's a fairly sad fact....

Seeing as Carlton are tanking I don't know how they'll win next week. They might play 3/4 of footy instead of 2.

When you tank you just want to avoid the PP, we've still got 2 wins left

I am a Carlton Supporter and I am supporting the team.

The team and the long term plan that is currently in place. If that means losing right now to benefit in the future - so be it.

I hope we win, just because I'm going to be there! Even if we lose the rest of the year :)

I beg to differ, this weekend you will not be supporting the team

Care to elaborate how and why i won't be supporting the team ??

I'm not going to smash my tv in disgust if we win. But i'm also not going to jump and down and call for the coaches head or criticise any player if we lose. It's all headed towards the future.

I will cheer every goal as well as every dropped handball or kick over fevs head and that is supporting the team. Thats more support than crucifying certain players for their pay/effort/lack of skills or whatever else comes up.

I love nothing more than watching the navy blue running around and am loving see "the plan" all fall into place.

As i said before if that means losing now - so be it - the future is very bright.

Really really hope French come backs.. Gosh we have missed him, but then Bryan would have never got a go..

With French in, have Lance and Bryan at CHF, Fev at FF and Waite as a floating forward/crummer.

Bryan to stay 55 meters out from goal and instruct the players to use Bryan as much as possible, tell Whitnall to play wide so no double teaming against Bryan. Use Bryan as much as possible, if he mark 50-60metres out, have a shot at goal...

Lets try and stretch another teams backline for a change....

I'm a reluctant tanker. But I want us to win this week more than the games against Filth and Scum later in the year. I would love to come out and drill these flowers and their band wagon jumping supporters by 12 goals after easing off in the last. Surely we can hope for one more win can't we?

Penny - dud
Powell - dud. The worst kick of a football since Richmonds Michael Laffy
Thomson - average at best
Peckett - as above
McGough - what were they thinking, quite possibly the slowest player to ever play the game of AFL
guerra - did SFA, basically a one trick pony (the charge), actually no, he's a dud
Ackland - average, Barney should murder him
Baker - average, pseudo tough guy (in his defence, the only tough player they have with Hammill)
Goddard - good at times then seems to have brain freezes. Lets not recruit him

I'm sure there's a couple more.

They are crap, ripe for the picking with injuries etc and owe them for last yrs debacle.

most of these (dud?) players wherein the team that spanked you buy 100 points last year, so what do is that say about the calibre of players at Carlton.

Carlton have as much chance of winning, as lance has of walking past a McDonald's without drooling

I haven't read so much utter crap before on this site...

Just have a good look at your list before taking shots at other clubs lists FFS

Your comment re Powell just take the cake....

Last time we played you Powell had 21 Possessions and kicked 3 goals...

Your other comments just proves you know stuff all about the game...

I don't know about that, going by Carlton's recent record, they are well on track to beat St Kilda's record and in record time I might add.

That if you can keep your head above water and in the competition long enough

About the game or a few select players on the St.Kilda list?
There's a difference, Fid.

FWIW...

Penny - Not a bad full back. Obviously not part of the elite full backs of the competition. Is probably in the second/third tier of full backs in the comp.

Powell - Certainly not a dud. Hard at it footballer. Wish we could have taken him when he was up for grabs many moons ago.

Thompson - 50/50. Played well on the weekend, but is getting on in age and I'd be suprised if he played on next year. However, in saying that, he hasn't been given sufficient time on the ground this year.

Peckett - See above.

McGough - Slow as a wet week. Silly decision by the Saints to pick him up. Especially when they play most of their games at TD.

Guerra - Played well in the first 7 games of last year and has dropped off considerably. Unfortunately, he has become too focused on lining someone up and knocking them over. Needs to forget the man and go the ball.

Ackland - Very suprising. From all reports he wasn't much chop, but he certainly has proved his doubters wrong. Has done very well for himself. I shudder to think where St.Kilda would be without him this year.

Baker - Isn't a bad tagger, but can he do anything else than tag?

Goddard - St.Kilda have managed/developed him the wrong way IMO. Asking him to put on 10kgs to get to 95kgs was a silly decision. It has hindered his development in so many ways. Can't run as fast as he could, therefore his explosive runs off of the half back line are basically non existent. Hasn't got himself a set position yet, which is a worry. Still going to be a good player in the long run though. Will be better than Wells, just like Walker will be better than Cooney.
