I agree BM. But when they hand out prizes for finishing last, then it pretty much turns the whole world upside down.

I was in a footy tipping comp once where the prizes were a trip to Fiji for the winner, a widescreen tv + a home theatre system for second place, a $1,000 voucher for third place and a $500 Dan Murphy's voucher for last place.

After about 10 rounds of the season, I was sitting something like 800th out of 5,000 people and knew I couldn't win.

So I tried to tip loser after loser to get that $500 voucher. After tipping visiting teams in Perth, plus tipping the odd draw or two, I ended up 'winning' by coming last.

Let me tell you, as I spent my $500 at Dan's, I felt a lot, lot happier than the poor bastard who finished second-last.

Or the poor bastard who finished fourth, for that matter.

Should they give prizes to losers? No Way! Did they? Yes. Should I have tried my best and finished in 713th place instead of 5,000th?

I don't think so.

No way, Mark. In fact I've still got some of the booty stashed in the cellar, including a bottle of 1966 Taylor's Vintage Port :D

But after cottoning on to my little scheme, they did ban me from their comp forever.

But I'd do it all again. Why should some guy who tips his arse off (so to speak) and comes fourth get nothing, while some dipstick who knows nothing about football and is so bad he/she finishes last get rewarded with $500?

At least I ensured ALL the prizes went to people who worked for them (and believe me, it's not that easy tipping losers. A few people figured out what I was doing after about round 15 and started doing the same. What they didn't know was that I was also tipping Draws. Hey - it didn't say in the rules that you couldn't).

I go to the footy every week cheering the Blues on and hoping we win. At the footy I couldn't give a stuff about the draft or high picks or anything like that. At the games I want to win them all and that'll never change. I personally can't have it any other way. Some can, that's up to them. I want to win every game for the rest of the season. It won't happen, but I'll be there at the games hoping we win them all.
