Coaching killed us. Totally out coached in second half.

2.6 vs 11.3 in the second half, how’s that down to coaching?

Freo took out clearance game away by putting Jackson in the middle second half. Voss did sweet FA as usual.

We're a pretty weak team but that was seriously just not a great lineup on paper, at all. So it was not too bad a showing.

The last thing you want is us getting out to a 4 goal lead though

Good first half but the only problem was we were in it mainly because of tackling & pressure not forward craft or anything sophisticated.

Cooper Lord good game, really like his hands in traffic. Overdid it a couple of times but he's developing well.

Flynn Young, White, & Evans attacked the ball really well.

Cripps & Hewett both excellent.

Motlop tried but too many stupid decisions again. Infuriating player.

Harry McKay, trade week can't come quickly enough but on today's showing I'm losing confidence in his return.

That was gutless by that prick Josh Tracy slapping our player in the back of the head & giving away 50. If I was coach Longmuir I'd be filthy with that.

I suppose one positive of Freo winning is it wasn't what pies & Hawks wanted

Everyone is talking about Jack these days, But I was Watching the other Jack!!

Can you believe it, he was the Sub today- Came on at 3QT and kicked 4 Goals in 4 Minutes!! He was the Player we badly needed but we could never fix his Injuries. Geelong takes him and are patient with him and now he is rewarding them!

Just makes me Sad seeing him and Matt Kenedy Florish, Yet at Carlton they were going no where!

What does clearance game have to do with set shot accuracy?

Martin is a side player for the cats who they can leave for the last 5 minutes, for us we needed him to play four quarters. Massive difference in roles.

Thought first half pressure was great but our forward line. (McKay. TDK especially) were putrid, no presence, nothing in the air.

Which of his 0 centre clearances impressed you the most?

Pros:

Intensity and pressure. Haven't seen that kind of effort for a while. 88 tackles is a great effort.
Best games from Cripps and Hewitt for a while.
Haynes, Pittonet, Lord, Evans, Williams, Cowan.

Cons:

2nd half impotency.
Lost the accuracy battle yet again.
Home ground umpiring.
More injuries.
Super impressive for Harry to lay 10 tackles, but he needs to compete far better in the marking contests.
Another disappointing effort from TDK, who wants to be one of the best paid players in the competition.

The ones that he created for his teamates . His presence was huge for his teamates . Wonder if there is any truth that he wants to come back to Melbourne ? if he is i would ask the question .

We had a go but as usual ran out of puff.
Great game by Cripps.
I think we must be cursed, seeing O'Farrell go down was heartbreaking.
Only 3 more games to go.

First time in 4 years I’ve defended Voss, but what moves did he have available with the cattle on the park?

I thought it played out as expected. Freo, everything to play for and a much better team in general, Carlton, bunch of kids and hacks that could only rely on pressure. 27 points was better than the belting I expected.

When he played as a ruckman, yes. When he played as a midfielder, Cripps had more than enough influence on him.
To suggest it was some kind of winning move after half time and Voss didn't counter is nonsense.
Jackson was the second highest rated player on the ground at half time. His ratings halved in the second half.

He was playing on our best player and current Brownlow medallist. There wasn't a lot of alternatives out there! If Voss makes errors, I'm happy for people to knock him but making shit up to bag the coach, nah.
With 5 minutes to go, we were within 4 points, with a VFL side. I don't know what people expected.

9 goals from their talls with 7 coming after HOF went off injured.
If any move should have been made it should have been to put TDK in defence and ruck with Pitto and Harry.

Cripps was the only match up we had for Jackson and I thought they split the honours

He got the same amount of coaches votes as Patrick Cripps, MIck.
The person he played on when he was in the midfield. No one is saying he didn't play very well. I'm just suggesting he was more dominant as a ruckman/forward than a mid. And his game ratings back that up.
Suggestions he was the difference as a midfielder and Voss was out-coached by it is incorrect IMHO.

Spot on.
I doubt anyone would say he's not talented.
Injuries have been his downfall his whole career.
He's averaged 59% TOG this year and only 36% against an already flogged Port.
In 2023 he averaged 71.9%.
Massive difference to an injury prone player.
Good luck to him, I hope they rest him before finals and he can have a crack and knock the Pies out if they meet before the GF.
