Maybe he has a future in politics as a faceless backbencher

I think you know my feelings about how my club has been travelling for the past few years, just incase you missed it though .... a bloody circus ... but I'm sure you think otherwise. Then again we know the players are the only one's at fault, so as per normal though, I'll let you finish telling the story.

this topic brings up a radio interview I heard from Mick McGuine... a few years back

if I am not mistaken Mick has been a reasonably successful coach and he was discussing some things his mentors Leigh Matthews and David Parkin have taught him along the way and the one item that I remember clearly and is very relevant now - always play 'character ahead of talent'. When the goings gets tough the player with character will find something to push themselves and those around them.

obviously you need to have talent, but what I take from this point is talent is not enough and without character a team can never be successful .... from what I gather from the thousands of posts is that 'some' of the talented players we have lack character ... if this is the case then simple move them on

I also remember when Parkin took over again in the early 90's the team was a shambles and Parkin turned over the list very quickly and he made the point that he need to build a team of players that really wanted to work hard and had character, at that time he accessed the list as being full of down hill skiers

de javu?

Very good point ciccio! Thats why I started supporting Carlton in the first place because of the mateship 1 in all in! Build a team rather than gather a group of skillfull who play for the sole purpose of money and ego!

When the going gets tough, the tough get going! This motto hasnt worked for the team so Pagan should get the selfish individuals to start going.......to Collingwood
