At the end of the 2002 season I though Davies, Sporn, Blake Campbell, Wiggins and Livingston would all make it.

How wrong I was....

The player we called "Spinner" in the reserves just couldn't get into it at all that day; and never really consistently showed that dazzling footwork and evasiveness again.

He wasn't too bad in his second stint with the club during the 78/79 seasons, Jezza showed quite a deal of faith in him, but I think he got injured halfway through the 1979 season and was not able to force his way back into the side ahead of Buckly, Sheldon, Marcou, Johnston and Ashman. I do recall he played a pretty good game against Geelong in the 1978 Elimination Final.

Had high hopes for Tim Reinets after a good game against Melb in 1990

Murray Vance:- Was picked at number 6 in the same draft as Fev. (I think)
Played a few ok games in 02, but then got de-listed.

Karl Norman:- I think we all did though. :(

Brendan Parker used to impress in the reserves but never took his chances. Played ok against Essendon* or Collingwood one night match I seem to remember.

Brent Heaver was pretty good until we recrutied him

He was recruited under the "If he played a decent game against us he must be OK, lets recruit him" policy:

- Stephen Easton
- Mick McGuane
- Frank Marchesani

There are countless others but my mind is a little rusty at the moment.

Remember when Clive ran through him at Waverley one night and broke his jaw?

What an animal.

Remember when he played in the backline in THAT game against Essendon* in 2001, when we were missing, Bradley, Silvagni, Kouta and Allan (and we still won 8) and in the last quarter he was running the ball out of defence and had his kicked smothered - and it cost us a goal. I said he would never play another senior game for us again. I think I was right.

I expected McKormick to make it, i still think Pagan was harsh to delist him for 1 bad season. He did a a kewl retro hair style aswell

I still rate Wiggins as a player, not a genuine superstar but a slow midfielder who crunches a pack.

Plunkett i also thought was goin to be ok as with Simon fletcher after his 99 season

Going back even further, mid-80's there was a kid called Richard Foster I think, was definitely Foster. He worse number 33 I think.

I think Richard Foster holds the club record for the most Reserve Games played at the Carlton Football Club. He played in the reserves for what seemed like forever. Also Mark Kerr was another one who played a 'shizenload' of reserve games as well.

For Goodness Sake!!

GREG SHARPE #29. Couldn't get a game ahead of Curly and Southby with plenty of others ahead of him.
Whilst I agree that all of these guys were pre draft and wouldn't have been there for as long in the now they were great supporters of the club for many years.

Perhaps a what ever happened to..... those of the 2nds teams of the 80's

Greg Sharp could not get much of a game for St. Kilda during the early 80s, when we cleared him there - which doesn't say a lot given they finished bottom through most of that period.
