No but I am not concerned about that. How did you feel during the St kilda game this year.More to the point how did Fevola'a teammates feel during the first quarter. Why did we try to offload him.We are starting to repeat ourselves from previous threads but what I will say is my patience with the guy has run out.How popular you are with fans shouldn't equate to being on the list.I believe it would be easier to move forward without him.

Let's face it, Fevola had an off year this year. Through injury and suspension, nothing was going right for him.

IMO now that he is married, he will settle down both on and off the field and start playing good footy again.

My point about the popularity amongst the kids is that if he was traded to another club, a lot of the kids would lose interest in the club as they have no player to look up to as a hero.

IIRC, Wojee told us during Trade Week that if Fevola was traded his daughter was going to stop supporting Carlton or something along those lines. That is how rpecious Fevola is to some supporters of the club.

I think keogh is referring to this mornings Herald Sun, where a picture of Fev appeared sitting on a bench. (No url link available)

Personally; I thought Fev looked very "un Italian" in that photo this morning with his dark full beard.... :?

Let's face it...he attracts the kids. Ask one small child, who supports Carlton, who their favourite player is and 9/10 you'll get Brendan Fevola as an answer.

Have a look at how far the bloke moves on Family Day. Earlier this year he walked out on to the ground and moved over to the forward pocket in front of the Social Club. Every time I looked over there he was mobbed by about 100-150 people and he didn't look like moving any time soon.

Now, ask yourself this Keogh, would any other player at Carlton under the age of 25 attract that much attention?

Hasn't Fev been embarrassing this year? Or is that just Koutoufides?

Fev has been embarassing this year. Some of his antics were un-called for. One that springs to mind was leaning against the fence during the Essendon* game.

I guess using the word "embarassing" to describe Kouta's season was a bit off. I think I was more or less trying to say that I was embarrassed for Kouta this year.

Nice attempt at having a dig at me, though.

Kids love characters and winners. We aren't winners atm so it's the characters that keep the kids interested.
Lil' Miss Wojee is the only kid in her class who turns up on footy day wearing Carlton colours and Fev is the only thing stopping her jumping ship to a more popular team. A 7yo isn't easily sold on "tradition" and "history" alone.

Exactly.
Most kids Lil Miss Wojee's age wouldn't have a clue about tradition or history. They are only concerned with a player or players. Should that player be sold off to another club, then that kid may become disinterested in the club and we may lose a potential member.

Fev was sitting on the bench encouraging his teammates, especially Eddie.
He is a larger than life character who always has time for the fans.
That's why the photo is of Fev. People want to know about him and read about him.

I dont see the big deal.
Better a photo of a Carlton player than no photo at all. :?

If doing his shoe laces up on a park bench is the worst thing Fev will be photographed doing this year then I 'll be happy ...the kids luv him as as been said and he is a face of the club whether people like it or not...like Akermanis the media seek him out for photo's or comment...its up to Fev to do what Aker does and thats get results on the park every Saturday, then he will get the respect of the football public...dont agree with Keogh's trade to Richmond comments at all....we need Fev....

This just proves that some people are anti-Fev regardless of what the guy does.

He's sitting on a bench, doing up his shoe laces, someone from the Herald Sun takes a photo of him, puts it in the paper

AND ITS FEVS FAULT??????

Going by the autograph hunters at the Junior Member's Day this year, Fev is a dead set legend. Whilst all of the other players were out running coaching drills, Fev spent the entire day with an Army of Rug Rats 10 deep all around him. Lance tried to do the same but the crowd was considerably less.

It was like a feeding frenzy, there were mothers with babies, kids, teenagers etc. Forget his groin, he would of had writer's cramp from all of the shirts, books, footies etc he signed. Was at it for an hour or more and the crowd didnt dwindle.

At the same time as he was signing these, kids could easily sidle up to Nick Stevens, Jarred Waite, Skinny lappin or any of the other players and get an autograph, have a chat, kick a footy etc. Fev was definately the stand out in terms of poularity.

Personally, my 8 yo son's favourite player is Jarred Waite and I know he wouldnt stop following the blues for anything (bribery, blackmail, brainwashing and skullduggery have ensured this), even the departure of Fev.

A big thing for kids is the cred they get in the playground from their mates. We might all be sending love letters to AB, but many of the other 8yos supporting rival clubs wouldn't have heard of him yet. You'd get laughed at by the other 8yo Filth & Scum kids if you told them your favourite player was Aisake O' hAilpin, only because your garden variety 8 yo filth supporter, outside of the filth lineup probably only knows the names of:

his immediate (both natural and adoptive) family/half brothers and sisters etc,

their Centrelink case worker

their mum's current and 5 previous itinerant partners

Mum/Dad's Parole officer and

the top 2 or 3 players from each of the other clubs.

For those wanting a bit more of Fev...the Hidden faces of Archibald exhibition at Crown Towers foyer down at Southbank has a painting of the man himself.....p63 in the Herald Sun today has a photo of the painting...I think it further points to the fact that Fev is indeed the face of the club

Don't mind his appearances on the Footy Show ... he comes across as fairly straight, and a likeable character. Nothing really wrong with that, particularly given the show's audience.

His on-field performances at times are an issue, and rather like Richo he wears his heart on his sleeve, to the detriment of the team.

On the other hand, as others have pointed out the majority of the kids love him and he genuinely appears to enjoy giving them his time at training etc. In this regard there are a few other well paid players who could probably take a leaf out of his book.

Don't agree he should be the only face of Carlton, but while at the Club and retaining his popularity he should certainly be one face.

Don't worry it was shaven off again by this morning's training. When I asked him about it he said "I (he) looked too much like a terrorist".
