Play...maybe, attitude...no. I for one won't miss that at all, and I would prefer young Russell to become his own man. I liked what I read in that article, and what I have seen in him (leadership wise) at the Bullants.

We could do worse than to nurture this aspect of his personality.

It refreshing to read something like that ..young players setting goals and wanting to help newbies settle in...finaly we look like having some sensible players who will be professional in their approach rather than some of the turkeys who have masquerading as pro footballers for the last couple of seasons....

I have to say I agree completely with the second bit of Abaddon's response. It's sad that people forget how good a player Campo really was for this club and we'd be blessed if Russell can emulate a career like Campo's.

I think that it's time that you moved on, CarltonClem.

I am moving on. I'm embracing the change that Russell seems to bring to the attitude of players at this club.

It seems that just because a kid hasn't shown anything (or maybe he has - Abaddon always bags players out in pithy 2 line responses regardless of who they are) in his first year means that he'll be a dead-set hack.

The damage that Camporeale caused this football club in the last couple of years is beyond measurement in terms of attitude and team players.

Yeah, Campo was a good player. For himself. And not for Carlton. He played well to get a pay cheque, if he played for his mates, he wouldn't have walked out on us.

I don't just respect playing ability, I respect all-round qualities that a player has given the club. And sure Camporeale has given us plenty of good memories, but the petulant displays he showed us for the last 5 years of his career will linger even longer.

Excellent post Elwood.

For Fupps sake people... Campo made a living out of s[ponging other peoples hard work..

This kid has to try and do it all by himself because there are no leaders at the club..

Glad the kid has taken something upon himself to contribute to others instead of sponging off his teammates, the club and the supporters.

Good on ya Russell!!! :-D

Athorn was very outspoken whilst a player actually. I quite vividly remember one interview (during the '93 season) where he was very vocal about the cut-throat nature of footy, his role in the team, and how he saw life after footy.

Yeah mate I'm real angry

Angry at any post that says russell had a bad year in the Bullants. Run, poise, creates space, real pace... only problem is his kicking.

Russell is a very intelligent, highly introspective kid. Don't doubt that he has game targets, possession targets, and each time he's out there he's working on something. He is chalk & cheese with the happy go lucky almost goofy Adam Hartlett.

I thought the article was fluff! IU get accused of writing fluff alot - mostly by Dannyboy! - but there was nothing on his performances at the Ants, being thrown back to defence where he seemed to have to take the streaky forward each time, nothing on his 2006 targets, nothing on his pre-season and whether Pagan has told him he'll get more games.. or not?

Bring back Mike & Dan.
