Journo, apparently, always fails to impress with his lazy and lacklustre pieces.

Thought as much. Did a search for some footy career stats on him and it kept coming back with a big fat 0 games played.

He must be Patrick Smiths lovechild...

I agree with hammer, why write it?

And why write it and not back it up with why he didn't impress you, Barrett?

I also went to the game and thought Murph did pretty well when he got the ball. He didn't waste it, he was good below his feet and made space and ran into good space when he didn't have it.
I know these sound like the same things as everybody else is saying but its because its true.

I would like to know what game Barrett was watching and what it was that he wasn't impressed with.

Well said fullmont - absolutely agree. Maybe Barrett was watching for the 5 minute stretch in the third when Murphy didn't touch it... as much? Absolute moron.

I was also pleasantly surprised with his size, I thought other teams would just throw a Holland on him to stir him up and take him out of the game, but for an 18/19 year old he looks the right size. In a few years of course he'll need to be, and be, bigger, but he owned the game on Saturday.

Chris Judd, Ball,Deledio etc are part of the problem.....Murphy will be expected to be as good as they are and were in their early games and its a bit unfair to expect that...Judd is a freak and should not be used as a reference point for Murphy.
How Barret can gauge anything from a friendly practice game is beyond me....

I'm pretty sure Damian Barrett was the guy who wrote about the secret Hawthorn training dossier only for it to come out that he had pulled it off a supporter forum and rebadged it with the words "top secret".

Zero credibility.

Here you go gents. Place him on whatever dart boards, etc you have lying around:

His knowledge of the off-field side of football as a business is almost unparalleled in Melbourne.
His articulate nature has allowed readers and viewers to better understand the complex issues of football as a business.

There we have it guys. For all his supreme knowledge off the field, he clearly has none on the field.

Clearly news.com.au are letting their amateurs take over the newspaper whilst their more credible writers are gearing up for a big year.

I much prefer this fella:
