Think of it this way, Geelongs Half-Forward Flankers will likely be Chapman, Ablett or Steve Johnson. Which of those 3 would you have Aisake man up on?

Chapman or Ablett

Johnson won't play til March :P

I dont think Livo has the agility to play CHB, he's more last line of forawrd or defence. I think we have to play Livo on NAblett to see if he can at least beat a young player not yet at full strength.

I hope we don't play Scotland on Ablett as after last year I'm still scared. Maybe Bentick to just tackle him whenever he gets near the ball? We are going to need some more small backmen, Carrazzo will have to play back.

B:McGrath Livo Carrazzo
HB: Whitnall Thornton bentick (on GABlett)
C:Simpson Stevens Walker
HF: Fisher Waite Lappin
FF: Betts Setanta Bryan
R: French Kouta Scotland

Int: Russell Hartlett Bower Murphy Sporn Teague

He could play on Ottens, surely all you'd have to do is stand behind him and yell 'BOO' all day ...

I wouldn't play Livo at FB if there was a jockey at FF. His best position is part of a 6 man bench.

I hope we stick with Thornton and experiment with Hartlett and waite for Sadddington to get fit.

Then we can throw Thornton/Harts, Sads and Kennedy around by mid year to hopefully get the back 6 we want.

If Bannister gets a gig this weekend or any time we don't have injuries then I'm all for the tanking theory cause he is rated 43rd best on my list. When you have a foot conversion rate of under 60% and you making claims for a midfield spot then you are seriously struggling. Russell has to be our tagger this year with Cory and Carrots second liners.

Backs: Hartlett Thornton McGrath
H/B: Walker Whitnall Russell
C: Simpson Bentick Carazzo
H/F: Fisher Waite Houlihan
F: Betts O'Haipin Lappin
FOLL: French Koutafides Stevens

I/C: Blackwell Bryan McLaren Scotland Murphy Bower

This is a very young team and the back half is very inexperienced but overall i think this team has a good balance and has a lot of promise...

I have gone for 3 talls in defence, a mix of runners and inside mids in the centre and 3 talls up forward...

Defence: Would like to see Hartlett on N. Ablett and maybe Whitnall on Playfair, leaving Thornton for Kingsley...I would then put Russell on Ablett as he has the explosiveness to go with him and in the practice games he has done a very good job at shutting players down...

Mids: The Cats strength is their midfield and it will be very hard to stop them as they are virtually at full strength...With Simmo, Houla, Walker (sometimes), Stevens, Betts and Carazzo we have enough runners, and with AB and Kouta in the middle, that also takes care of the in and under stuff...Also add Murphy, Scotland and Blackers into the equation and we have plenty of options to match up with the Cats midfield...

Forwards: I have put Houla and Lappin up forward as that is really where they belong...I remeber a few years ago (maybe 4) when lappin was just so dangerous up forward and i feel that if we are any chance of having a reasonable season he needs to be there...I have Setanta at FF due to his form in the praccie matches as well as the dangerous duo of Fisher and Waite along the HF line...

Verdict: It will come down to the midfield and i feel that if the Blues can rotate enough fesh legs through there and keep up with them then we are in with a real chance...Hopefully we will get to see some of the bright stars of the future and NOT Prendergast, Bannister, Chambers, etc...In the end the Cats will not be taking it very seriously and the blues will win....only just....

I'd like to see SODOA play on Gablett. He was one of the few to pants SODOA last year and it would be good to give him another crack at evening up the score. Then he can return to the apparent mission of being an adventurous HBF/mid in the following games.

B:- McGrath Livo Carazz
HBF:- Walker Lance T-Bird
C:- Simmo Scotland Houla
HFF:- Lappin Waite Fish
FF:- Betts Fev Carlos

R:- French AB Stevo

Int:- Kouta, Bryan, Dilbert, Hartlett, Murphy, Teague.

Fev and Waite both to play. Both of them will need the extra run, as both of them have spent the most time in the injury group and now both seem right to do the contact work, so both will play, even if it is for a half or in a pocket whie Bryan/Hartlett/Carlos take the KP spots in the foward line.

Kouta to start off the bench as he did last pre-season cup, AB to slot right into his spot.

DP has said Stevo is expected to play so he will line up as normal but will most likely not be used for the full game, rotating with Houla on the ball and Murph to the wing as we have seen at training.

Lance will not play foward.

DP seems to take the pre-season cup pretty serious and likes to win, he has proved this at North, making a few top 4's and a few GF in late 90's, so I cant see him feilding a team that will not be able to win and for this reason we will see alot of unlucky players miss out who have trained hard so far, eg:- Sporn, Russell, Banno, Archie, Wiggo, Bower, Edwards, Chambers, Blackwell and T-Lo. But in saying that, I could see any of these players taking a spot over Teague and maybe even Hartlett.

Just on Hartlett, the reason why I think he will be picked is so he can be used to rotate with Fev or Waite or even Livo or if we need an extra tall down back.

Bryan, pretty much to be used to rotate with Fev or Waite and to get a bit of a run in the middle.

Dilbert to be used as the backup to French, cant really see him being used as an extra tall up foward with the rotation of Watie/Fev with Hartlett, Bryan and Carlos.

You would like to have a couple of Andrew Walkers in the team...I think he the man for G Ablett but I wouldnt mind another one for Ling or Joel Corey...I think Abeltt would be too powerful for Adam Bentick..AB is a good tackler but Ablett is a strong unit for his size and I think its asking a bit much of your apprentice in and under midfielder to pick him up..
I think its a game where we can exploit Geelong down back with Harley missing...Fev, Waite, Fisher, Eddie and Setanta can kick us a winning score.
You have to wonder too if Geelong are that interested in the NAB cup and looking at the main premiership as their goal for the year...

Livo will only become a solid AFL player when he believes he can cut it at AFL. In his 6th year in the system, he still lacks confidence and the poise that comes with it. MUST start believing he can do it or else he'll be toast at years end.

Play him until he he makes it or breaks it.... we have little to lose.

Ottens, Harley, King, Steve Johnson to miss.

Bookies have them favourites to win the Cup, while we're 2nd last (but ahead of the Swans!)
