a more balanced approach - would be 11 -melb ,8 syd ,1 Ade, 1 Perth, 1 Bris.

Two of the games in Sydney would have to be home games for us as I couldn't see Ess and Coll giving up their home games against us in Melb.
If you made one of those home games against the swans it would bring in good revenue

It would work - there is good support in Sydney for Carlton . In the early days you could almost count on a sell out every time we played up here .

Some one has to do it sooner or later

The only was I could see it working would be as below

5 games in Sydney

2 games in WA,SA,Qld.

and 11 still in Melbourne.

At the end of the day if would have to be financialy in our favour in a big way though.

Probably would make us a more marketable club with National Sponsors though.

Budzy, we shouldn't entertain any such idea of playing home games away.

Those interstate home games WILL BE TRUE HOME GAMES for our interstate (& potential) members. We must broaden our membership base Surrey. 16 games in Victoria for our heartland supporter base is not neglecting them IMO.

Why two in QLD and there is no need to play two in the other states either.

Collingwood dont even go to Perth do they ???

Elwood, hit nail head ..... Anyone who has their hand in the CBF better start turning things around and soon. I have a feeling some-one from this bunch will be moved on and sooner rather than later.

Surrey I am involved with the AFL up here and it will be later rather than sooner. They love to tell all and sundry about the great job they are doing promoting the game up here with juniors/auskick etc. That is where it ends though as they way senior football is run in the greater Sydney area (Wollongong thru to Newcastle) is a disgrace. Last year they outlayed less the 300K running the three Divisions in Sydney metro. This figure also inlcudes their full time staff , umpiring costs, ground hire, funtcions etc etc etc. They run the game on a shoestring and like it is in the 1800's. I have the figures supplied by the AFL to all bar one Club in my division after the presidents had an impromtu meeting about the state of football in NSW and demanded answers. To see the repsonse supplied to us you would laugh. Either they were trying to fob us off with a fairy floss reply(go away you naughty children dont bother us) or they have now idea how a balance sheet and P&L are supposed to be prepared. In addition to this other questions we wanted answers to were greeted with "we dont feel that this is the appropriate time to address this but we will endevour to at the next sanctioned presidents meeting"(or words close to this effect).

I would love to see a secound side in Western Sydney training out of the future facility in Blacktown and playing out of Stadium Australia but there is a hell of a lot of work to be done before this comes to fruition. It also in my opinion would most likely be an entirely new identity as opposed to a relocated side. People in Sydney would accept their own side rather than one given a new Identity.

For totally selfish reasons I love the idea.

Don't think it'd be a good move for us or the AFL.

Furthermore, if we floated the idea the AFL would insist it be a permanent relocation I reckon.

SB if the AFL is serious about a national assult on the game then you dont ignore the other states.

On second thoughts though maybe drop the games as suggested but leave Sydney as six not eight as this would allow us to still play Ess and Coll in Melbourne twice.

That was the proposal back then Camel. :P
That was Collo at his best. :-D

Well, if we can manage to fluke our way into a deal like that it's probably worth looking at.

But I couldn't see it happening to be honest, as we'd have to con some Melbourne clubs into the deal. Someone would have to be coughing up some serious cash in the form of guarantees and the like.

Interesting that you should post this thread Surrey particularly given your reluctance to leave Princes Park?

By the way i note your comments re "the best interest of Carlton Members".

Might i ask if you are a paid up Member yet?

As for me,whilst i live in Sydney i would NEVER advocate us moving.Any discussion or contemplation of the matter can be regarded to an admission that we have consigned ourseves to mediiocrity.

Again. This proposal does not imply we are re-allocating or moving anywhere. :? Why do people turn things around and put their own spin on threads.

Given that you have become a Worldly/thinking man Surrey surely you can answer a simple question...

Are you a Member yet??

Depends who's asking?
Does the club want to know why I haven't renewed after 25 years or whether I will, I am only too please to raise my concerns. If it's a poster with no relevance ......

Well if you dont become a member you cant address your concerns Surrey.

All you can do is sit on here and talk shit.... some more shit... that means jack shit... spinning shit... just shit... nothing but shit...

Become a member and you can do something... which is not your forte...

but you can make a start for yourself...

most people dont rely on other people to change their lives for them.. they are proactive...

i bet you havent even called anyone from the club to voice your concerns

Bat.......Ball....go home!

Did you pay last year?

Seems strange that someone who posts prolifically around the Boards espousing their LOYALTY cannot make the move to join the Membership?

Seems a cop-out to me!

This is the funniest thing i've seen on this site in about 6 months.

Surrey "I'm a better supporter than you because i live in Melbourne and I don't want to leave Princes Park" Blue decides that we should move to Sydney.

Well, that would suit me fine, but I think you'll kill the club once and for all if you do that. Where is the heartland of this great club? In Melbourne.

If we have to travel that often, we'll go bankrupt. Do you realise how much it costs to send a team back and forth between cities Surrey?

We'll become nomads, a team without a home.

For my sake, bring it on, but for the club's sake....hell no.
