He might be reading them but he obviously is not paying any attention to them .
Otherwise I would have had a hit on me by now

Monash University. Didn't need great grammar to become a mechanical engineer. Didn't think you needed it to post on a message board either.

Says a lot for fee-paying students then, doesn't it.....

I just pray that your knowledge of engineering isn't anything like your knowledge of football.

Maybe we should start posting how great were going.. what fantastic and innovative ideas were performing out in the game thats bamboozling the opposition.. and what flawless., tactical, commited football were playing!!!

Fair dinkum!!!.. if Denis reads this .. and i doubt he knows how to come on line..... cos the internet wasnt discovered till recently,, and he feels sensitive with what some people (mostly hard core members and diehards) post about what we have seen week in week out for three fuppin years....he then should log off.. and stay away!!!!....

The gumption of the bloke to pretend he is being victimised!!!...

We have no outriders in kick ins.. our players play in congested areas.. playing contested football.. when all we did today was get pinged for tagging and scragging in contests.. while everybody else is playing towards a fast running style of mobile, clever footy...!!!..
We go out and get as our number 1psd ruckman a guy who is too short to ruck... and another guy whos knee is shot!!!...

Cintested footy is almost being umopired out of the game.. its basketball now.. so you have to coach like youre playing basketball!!!

Not 1980s footy.

Surely its hard to bite your tongue forever... surely there is only so much slack you can cut a coach whos message is obviously not making it to the players.. and you know its not sinking in by the way were playing...!!!

Its pre season and a practise game but people are fine tuning skills and tactics and were sinking in a mire of quicksand...!!!

If Denis thinks were negative i wonder who is sending off the positive vibes to him.

We need a complete change of direction.. the onus is on him to ignite something... not me!!!... not anybody else!!!... if he cant do it maybe he can just owe up to it and allow us to move on without him.

Denis Said

Yet if you talk to Carlton supporters at training, or peruse the club's unofficial website, you would be forgiven for thinking the Blues were already 0-11 in the home-and-away season

You know how sometimes you say things and they come back to bite you on the arse.

I would be very worried about this coment if I was Denis and I bet he regrets saying it

A paper said that. They then quoted Denis as saying how he doesn't buy into all the media commentary on the club.

Read it again.

Yep, team got thumped, Coach's fault etc etc, heard it all too often over the last 4 years. Bottom line is we are stuck with the coach for the season. Even if we wanted to get rid of him we couldnt afford to pay him out (probably). I'm no AFL coach and I've only ever met elite AFL players at family days etc. I know no influential people and have no inside running. But I do coach an adult soccer team in a suburban league (player coach).

Withy my bunch of amateur soccer hacks I have noticed that kids, 17, 18 yo's are hot and cold. One week they are Pele and the next week they are hopeless. They look for direction and somebody to get them going. If you can get a few old boys out there screaming at them, revving them up they can beat the world. if you let them go to sleep they will let in 10 goals. If they are confident and fired up, look out, if their girlfriend dumped them the night before, or some peanut crushed their confidence in the pre-game warmup they are not worth playing (in general). Mostly there is a huge variance between their best and their worst. I assume 17/18 yo AFL hopefuls are the same.

I didnt go to the game on the weekend. From what I've heard and what I've seen in the past, the game sounds like it was lost in the heads of the younger players at 1/4 time. Lose confidence and its all down hill from there. A coach can rev players up on the sidelines but I reckon its the onfield leadership that needs to carry the day when the chips are down.

Synbad has said this so many times it makes my ears bleed to hear it, but I reckon he is right. We just dont have an onfield leadership team that can get the kids going. I love Kouta, have done for years but he just isnt the kind of bloke that is going to make some kid in the trenches feel 7ft tall and bulletproof. He is by all accounts the nicest guy you can meet (never met him myself!) but you dont need a best mate when the chips are down, you need a warrior. Somebody, or bodies that are going to drag you along by the scruff of your collar and make you carry your bit of the load. Love him or hate him the only bloke that I hear about doing this during games is Lance. When the ship is rocking you need your older players to right the boat. We've always had these guys in the past, Diesel, Sticks, Big Nick, SOS, Rats, the list goes on. We dont seem to have any now. The boat starts rocking, everyone looks on and it just tips over.

Shame on you 2ndeffort for praising both Synbad and Lance in the one paragraph! Synbad will do more than make you're ears bleed ;-) Don't you know he'll never rest until we've dumped any player earning more than $100k a year or older than 24 years because they're all -ve influences and joyriders.

I guess once we get to that stage he'll be able to blame the lack of any senior players on our problems...

Perhaps but if youre paying someone 400k and he is a vc and been around for a while can he at least be capable of playing on frontliners and not letting the kids on 100k do it???

So just cos someone is a senior player doesnt mean he has any worth....

Lance demonstrates his worth on the training track in how he teaches his fellow players. Stack that with his new-found professionalism in all drills nad you can't help but be pleased with the bloke at the moment.

Regardless of his form and fitness Lance is an assistant coach IMO.

Take Lance off the list... and put him in as a tactical assistant coach and we can save ourselves 350k .. and 400 in the salary cap.

Id go for that.. good idea...

Bludger, slow, not mobile, not tall enough, cant take a contested mark. not a good trainer (regardless of what jimmae says) overpaid, overated, cant play as front liner... but we pay him as one.... bad example to kids as to how to treat your professional career..

basically i believe he would be good at a club like stkilda but as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike to a club that needs ALL hands on deck.. and senior players to set the tone.

No agenda...

Just were not in a phase that allows us to have the luxury of keeping a guy like Lance on our list for the kind of money and output/input he gives us.

But has he not made an effort to get in shape this season, he seems to have lost weight, and I dont profess to know heaps about afl, but from what I have seen, thanks to the ninja, he is a better forward, he seemed to, frmo what I have seen, give more options than Fev up front, maybe more popular than Fev also?
